Sage Michaelson is a Deputy U.S. Marshal who has come home to Journey
Creek to rest and recuperate. His best friend Steve is getting married
and asked Sage to watch over his sister, Delaney, while he's on his
honeymoon. Sage knows that won't be an easy job considering all the
trouble she used to get in while they were growing up. Then he saw
her...and she sure wasn't anything like the 'Dane' he remembered.
Delaney Hunt is a Flight Medic who loves her job, her Lord and has a
love for life itself. She acts as spokesperson for Quiver Full
Orphanage. But someone wants her silenced! She has always loved Sage but
knows he'll never see her as anything but the little sister of his best
friend. He's only sticking close to protect her. Nothing more. But when
Sage makes some uncharacteristic moves toward her, she doesn't know
what to think. Each of them has a dream for the future but will they
ever get a chance see what that future might look like or will someone
be successful in silencing Delaney?
Journey's Embrace is one of those stories that once you start reading it you can't put it down. Right from start you are drawn into suspense and the story holds you in it's grip until the last page is turned. This is an excellent addition to the Marshals of Journey Creek Series. Sage appeared in Journey's Edge and I couldn't wait to find out more about him. What a hero! I loved getting to know Sage and what made him tic. But this hero was afraid of something and I really liked the way that played into the story. What was it? You'll have to read the book to find out. Delaney was great! She was so refreshing and real. You could easily see why folks were drawn to her. Her simple faith impacted those around her, including Sage. The romantic tension was fabulous. I loved watching Sage and Delaney together. Lots of yummy moments! As I was reading, the verse that kept coming to mind was 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' A good thing to remember. The suspense was well done and you don't really find out whose behind the attempts until the end! I like that! It was fun to see Renner and Trey again from the first two books. This is the third book in the Marshals of Journey Creek Series and although you could read it as a stand alone, you won't want to miss Journey's End and Journey's Edge. Dora Hiers has become a favorite author of mine and I would highly recommend any of her books.
