SINGLE DAD COWBOY by Brenda Minton

Harmony Cross returns to Dawson to recover from a life changing accident and perhaps find the person she once was. What she didn't count on was Dylan Cooper. He's still handsome and charming but very different from the Dylan she remembered. He's now a single dad with two very cute kids but he's also very helpful and kind to Harmony. As they help each other out feelings begin to grow between them. It's the last thing each of them expected. Will Dylan and Harmony set aside their doubts and find a future together?

I absolutely love visiting Cooper Creek. I'm sad that this is the last book in the series but it was a wonderful conclusion. You not only get Harmony and Dylan's story but you also get to catch-up with lots of other folks you've come to know and love. The Cooper's are such an endearing family who love and support each other. They also have some great interaction and funny moments together. Dawson is the kind of place you want to live; with the Mad Cow Cafe` and of course, Granny Myrna Cooper. If there's a gift of matchmaking, she's got it. What a great lady. The folks around here are so welcoming, you'll feel right at home while you're reading. The author did a wonderful job dealing with the very real problem of addiction and how it affects you and those around you. The verse that kept coming to mind for me was "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." You could read this as a stand alone but I encourage you to read all of the Cooper Creek Series. I know you'll come to love both the people and place as much as I did.

Danny Flynn has returned home from three tours of duty. He suffers with severe PTSD. He's not sure he can be a part of society ever again. He's afraid he might hurt someone when flashbacks occur. Alex Dugan served along side Danny and wants to help him. He encourages him to join a veterans' group from Whitcomb University, where Danny plans to be a student in the fall. Will he become part of the group or continue in his solitary existence.

I have read the other two books in the series (Battlefield of the Heart and Trust of the Heart) and loved both stories, so when I saw Wounds of the Heart, I knew I wanted to read it. After reading it however, I really feel like this should have been a prologue to Battlefield of the heart or a free introduction to the series. I'm sorry to say there's not really much content except an introduction to the folks you find in Battlefield of the Heart. In my opinion you don't need to read this to enjoy the rest of the series. I didn't think it added anything extra. I do however love the cover.

THE PROMISE by Kathleen Sherwood

Connor Christianson is a successful lawyer who can pretty much have whatever money can buy. To bad he can't buy love. His terrible childhood has made him cold and indifferent to just about everyone except his dying brother, Allen. Connor plans to keep the promise he made to Allen, it just might tougher than he thought. Kaley Mills doesn't have money but she has great faith in a great God. She works in a diner and is almost finished with her teaching degree. She's doing her best to raise her daughter, Macie and giving her all the love she never got growing up. One day, Connor comes into the diner. Kaley is immediately taken with him but sees he has a troubled spirit. Her kind and bubbly personality isn't what Connor expected, nor was her great faith in God. Connor comes to her rescue a couple of times and has opportunities to observe her with Macie and realizes what a good and loving mother she is. As they spend more time together, the connection between Connor and Kaley is growing stronger. The road ahead, however, is winding and bumpy. Is Kaley's faith strong enough to see her though. Will Connor be able to let go of past hurts and reach out to God for healing? Can promises made, be kept?

WOW! What an amazing story of God's love and grace. The Promise draws you in right from the start and doesn't let you go until the last page is turned. You'll find tragedy and triumph and lots of twists and turns, which is a definite plus for me. I love stories where there is lots of interaction and dialog between the main characters and that's exactly what I found here. Connor and Kaley shared a such a strong chemistry that it really set the stage for lots of great romantic tension, which I love! Kaley was such a loveable lady. Her strong faith was a great example to Connor as well as to the reader. Connor was one leading man you won't soon forget. His strong yet tender ways will make you swoon! Macie will completely win you over with her cute personality. The secondary characters are as full of life as Connor and Kaley, which really enhances the reading experience. This was the kind of story, that when you get to the last page (although you hate to see it end) you feel totally satisfied. Kathleen Sherwood is a favorite author and I must say, this is a favorite story. One I would find myself reading again. If you enjoy a character-driven story, with lots of great romantic tension along with a great message, than I promise you, you will love 'The Promise'!

YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU by Beth K. Vogt

Seth Rayner likes to have things planned out and his plan was to Marry Allison and work in his father's company. All that changed two years ago, when Allison left him at the alter and ended up falling for his brother, Daniel. Now Daniel and Allison are getting married and he finds himself working with Allison's best friend, Meghan Holloway. Meghan is a quirky, speak-your-mind, liker-of-bright-colors (especially nail polish) kind of gal. She's tired of men not accepting her because she's different. Seth and Meghan have shared feelings of dislike since high school but now they find themselves forced to work together on Daniel and Allison's wedding. In working together, will they find something special buried beneath the dislike?

I absolutely loved 'Wish You Were Here' so I was SO excited to see there was a follow-up. You Made Me Love You was everything I hoped for and more!!! Seth and Meghan are unforgettable and so much fun. Once you start reading, you just can stop and you don't want it to end. I must say too, that although this is a novella it doesn't read like one. It was loaded with great romantic tension and lots of memorable moments. It's one I would definitely read again. You could read this as a stand alone but I highly recommend you start with 'Wish You Were Here' first. You Made Me Love You is the perfect title for this sweet little treasure and one I highly recommend! Love the cover too!

SOMEBODY LIKE YOU by Beth K. Vogt

Haley Ames is only married three years when her husband, Sam, is killed in Afghanistan. She's trying to come to grips with the loss as well as the upcoming birth of their child. One night when she arrives home, she gets the shock of her life. Her husband is waiting for her! How can that be? Stephen Ames hasn't spoken to his identical twin in more than twelve years. He wants to make things right but then finds out about Sam's death. He's hoping Haley can help him discover who his brother (and once best friend) became. He finds out however, that Sam never mentioned Stephen to Haley. Sam and Stephen were mirror images of each other and that's difficult for Haley at first, but as Stephen helps her out she begins to see how different they really are. Stephen and Haley are very drawn to each other and slowly build a relationship but is Haley only attracted to him because he looks like Sam. Would building a life together somehow dishonor his brother?

Somebody Like You is a beautiful story that is loaded with lovable characters that just reach out and grab you by the heart. Full of emotion and grace, along with splashes of humor, made this an absolute joy to read. The easy pacing helps you savor every moment (and I did). I would love to see this made into a movie! I loved the interaction between Haley and Stephen and most especially loved how Stephen handled things. Throughout the story, the author touches on many real-life challenges in a realistic way. I appreciated the spiritual thread running through the story; are we making our plans or are we asking God to show us His plans? Now there's some food for thought. The one thing I wished for when I got to the end was an Epilogue. I loved the ending but wanted just a little more, maybe because it was so hard to close the book on these wonderful friends. Beth Vogt has really become a favorite author of mine! I am looking forward to her next book-offering. In-the-meantime, I highly recommend Somebody Like You!
