This was a great installment to The Ozark Durham Series. It had lots of mystery and surprises along the way as you try to figure out, with Ethan and Carli, the answers to several contemplative questions. I would love to read Carli's brother's story! (hint, hint)! Although this didn't have as much romantic tension as Abandoned Hearts, the chemistry between Ethan and Carli was still great. Ethan, at times, reminded me of his father, which was fun. I was hoping to see Ann and Jacob again but they were only mentioned a few times. Unconditional love and forgiveness was the underlying message which I thought the author did really well. One line that I absolutely loved and highlighted in my Kindle was "...God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living; He blesses us to raise our standard of giving." That is GREAT truth to remember! If you're looking for a fun story filled with mystery and sweet romance, then I recommend you pick up Unexpected Kiss. Now I am anxiously awaiting "Coveted Bride"!

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!!! This is definitely going down as an all-time favoite of mine. This author did a fantastic job of executing a story that is loaded with romantic tension, upholds and encourages Biblical morality and wraps it all up in a tale that was impossible to put down. Who can go wrong with that combination!! I totally fell in love with the characters. Ann was so much fun! She is full of spunk and grit but also possess a deep faith. It's that combination that draws you to her. Jacob is definitely a swoon-worthy hero. Strong & stubborn yet tender and I loved his playfulness with Ann. I think one of the most enjoyable things for me was that it wasn't just one or two scenes, but their banter plays-out through the whole story. I loved that! I also appreciated that conflicts were addressed throughout and didn't wait the entire story to be resolved. To me that was most refreshing! Jacob's kids and father will worm their way into your heart with their liveliness. This is the first book I've read by Regina Tittel but she is now a new favorite author of mine. If you enjoy Carie Lawson books then you are sure to enjoy this author's work. Abandoned Hearts comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Great job, Regina!!! Can't wait to get started on Unexpected Kiss!

I thoroughly enjoyed This Time for Keeps. It kept me entertained from beginning to end. India was an interesting character and one I liked but she kinda drove me nuts as she continually vacillated between Chase and David. However, I do understand how that situation would throw your life in a tailspin to where you wouldn't know what to do. India didn't want to hurt anyone and I could definitely relate to that. She prays that the Lord would show her what to do. It was interesting to watch Chase and David as they worked to win Indi's heart for keeps. You are kept guessing who she will choose, although I had a inkling of where her heart was. I know who I would have chosen! There was also an interesting twist at the end that I didn't expect, which is always fun, and the ending was totally satisfying and put a smile on my face. If you're looking to get away to a small town with some interesting characters complete with a love triangle then I recommend you try This Time for Keeps.

Oh what a tangled web we weave! WOW! This is definitely a story that keeps you on your toes the whole time you're reading it. As I was reading I kept thinking this would make a great episode of "Murder She Wrote" or "Columbo". The tale was very tightly woven and keeps you turning pages to find out what's going to happen next. I must admit that I didn't care for Erin very much in the beginning, but slowly I warmed-up to her as I learned her story. I loved Clay and how he handled things. His quiet faith and steadfastness had an impact on Erin. There was a great cast of supporting characters whom I hope to see again. This author really allowed you to become completely entangled in the lives of these characters and I found myself trying to solve the puzzle right along with them. Slowly but surely the intensity builds as you gather each clue with a few red-herring along the way. Although this story has a climactic ending that is totally satisfying, the door stands open and ready for the next book. I'll be watching for that one! This is Peggy Blann Phifer's debut novel but it sure doesn't read that way. To See The Sun is book 1 in the Desert Faith Series and one I definitely recommend!

On top of that she's caring for her younger brother and sister because her their mother (Lucy's step-mother) took off shortly after their father was killed in a buggy accident. Lucy would like to provide a good home for them but she's not sure how she'll do that. The Lord seems to answer her plea by way of Henry Stanton. Henry says he wants to help her but the only way he will is if she agrees to marry his son, Nate, by proxy. After much thought, she reluctantly agrees. Nate is dismayed to find out what his father has done. How could he marry him off without his knowledge and especially to someone who looks so unfit for ranch life. Not only that, but she has younger siblings that are now his responsibility. Slowly but surely though, he begins to see that she's made of tougher stuff then he thought. They are trying to do the right thing but obstacles seem to be popping up everywhere and danger seems to be lurking just around the corner.

This is definitely going down as a favorite of mine. There were so many things I loved about this story. It's easy to read but the storyline is so tightly knit. It seems like there was no extra words anywhere. It all meant something. I really like that! The characters are so full of life and interesting to spend time with. I had so much admiration for Lucy. She inspired me with her courage and determination. Nate was such an awesome guy but a little rough around the edges. Nothing Lucy couldn't fix, of course! The kids are absolute gems. The way the story played out was so realistic and true to life. The slow build between Lucy and Nate is absolute torture but keeps you quickly flipping those pages, right to the very end. I couldn't put it down and when I absolutely had to, I found myself anxious to get back to it. It's got mystery, danger, romance and a great spiritual message about letting God take control. I think this is one of Colleen's best work. Blue Moon Promise is one I highly recommend. WOW! This second installment of the Heart of a Hero Series is an excellent story. This author certainly doesn't sugarcoat the life of a gang in the 1870s. The rough and rugged life they lead is painted in a realistic way. This book felt much darker to me than the first book but I think it's because we are getting a good look into the lives of hardened criminals. A Texan's Honor is actually two stories in one. It's pretty much evenly divided between Will McMillian and Sout Proffitt (whom we heard about in A Texan's Promise, Sout is the brother of Clayton). I thought the way it shifted between the two was very well executed while still maintaining a good flow. This story definitely took me on a train ride of emotion. There were things I found amusing but there were many times I found myself wiping away the tears. There were some tough issues to deal with. The author does a great job of allowing you to get inside of the heads of all the main players. Sometimes private thoughts are not so pretty. Although isn't that reality. But it also allows you to see that many times what you see on the outside is very different from what's on the inside. There was plenty of romantic tension, which I LOVED and the characters were true to life and fully fleshed out! I would not classify this as a 'feel good' story but it is a story where there is hope. It had a completely satisfying ending while leaving the door wide open for Book 3, A Texan's Choice! You could easily read this as a stand-alone story but I highly recommend you start with A Texan's Promise. If you like a gritty, realistic, true-to-life, non-sugarcoated story, then A Texan's Honor is the book for you. I have loved this series so far and can't wait for the third installment! In the meantime Nathan moves into a cabin on the farm and somewhat takes charge. She learns day-by-day that Nathan is a good, Christian man. But Nathan also has a past that Kate doesn't know of. What will happen when the past rears it's ugly head? More importantly, what will happen when the judge finally returns to town?

This was a really fun and enjoyable story to read. You really can't help but fall in love with the characters. Especially the kids, they are such a hoot! I loved the steadfastness of Nathan and the way handled himself. The way he always encouraged Kate and the kids to turn to the Lord for help. Kate was a very spunky gal. But for all her spunk, she was afraid to accept help from anyone and trust did not come easy, if at all, but she was practical. Nathan was a great influence, although he didn't realize it was having any effect. I think that could be true for us as well. You never know how you influence someone for good or for bad. This was just a great, feel-good, type story. One that will take you away for a little while, to a different time and place and put a smile on your face. It had a little of everything in the story which kept it well rounded. At the end it made reference to a book coming out starring one of Kate's siblings. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

This is Book 1 in the Lone Creek Ranch Series and a great start! I really enjoyed meeting the characters. Jessica is full of anger but Carson's careful handling simmers her down a bit. I enjoyed their interactions together. James is a great guy and hopefully we'll see more of him. He's a great example of what God can do when He get's hold of your heart. It's a short story and to be perfectly honest I wanted more. I wasn't ready for it to end and it made me definitely want to read Lullaby in Lone Creek. If you're looking for a good quick read, Lost in Lone Creek would be a great choice.

I just loved Reluctant Bridesmaid! The characters were very well drawn and full of life! Jordan is such a relateable gal. I really liked that she was full of determination but not in an unreasonable way. Tanner was definitely a swoon worthy hero. Oh my, his sweet and gentle ways won my heart, that's for sure! I liked the fact that he was flawed and willing to admit it. That made him all the more appealing. We're reminded in the story that people can't change hearts but God can, if we allow him to do his work. Although this wasn't a suspense type story, it had a wonderful flow to it that just kept you turning the pages. Don't be a 'reluctant reader'! Get Reluctant Bridesmaid. It's one I highly recommend (or any of Wendy Davy's stories for that matter)!

Another wonderful installment to the Harmony Village series. This story dealt with some very serious issues but all from a Biblical perspective. Premarital sex, pregnancy, adoption, love, marriage and death were all a part of our tale. However, there were enough splashes of humor and fun to keep the story going. I really liked the fact that Connor and Krysia were not perfect but were trying to honor God in the way they behaved. God has a high-standard and expects His children to follow it. But He's also willing to forgive you of your mistakes as far as the east is from the west. Cupid Cat is always great with his uncanny match-making ability. You also get to see all the other Harmony Village residents that you've come to know in the previous books. The end of the book leaves you with Cupid Cats next victim...ahem client!!! Looking forward to that one! If you have enjoyed the other Harmony Village stories then you'll want to pick up this next installment. The Write Honor is book five in the series and one you could read as a stand alone but reading the previous books allows you see the history of the Cat's previous clients. (Looking for Love #1, A Matter of Faith #2, A Pocketful of Hope #3, On Wings of Trust #4 and The Write Honor #5). Sierra was a wonderful heroine. Such faith and strength in light of her situation. I fell in love with Chase. Oh man! Such a great guy. The chemistry between them was awesome. Chase's family was really great too. I would love to see a story about Chase's brother Jake! (hint, hint)! This tale is a great reminder that bad things are going to happen but the Lord is always right there walking beside his children and that we need to trust Him even to the end. If you like a good romantic suspense with a great message then I highly recommend Deadly Chase! Great job Wendy!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I thought the author did a wonderful job of bringing to life a woman we know little about. It's really Asenath's journey and how it intersects with Joseph. I liked the way she portrayed Joseph. He was really just as I would have imagined him to be. The story is written in first person from Asenath's point of view. Although the first person POV is not my favorite, I really felt it worked for this story. As a reader, we were able to get a glimpse into the Egyptian culture and what they believed. I don't often read Biblical fiction but this is one I would definitely recommend. As the author points out in her note at the end of the book, little is know about Asenath so she was able to let her imagination run wild. I thought she came up with a very believable story and one I really enjoyed reading. A thank you goes to the author for providing me with a complimentary copy for my review.

From beginning to end, When the Smoke Clears is loaded with non-stop action and suspense! I literally could not flip pages fast enough. I was totally enthralled with not only the story but the characters as well. The family dynamics in Alexia's family as well as Hunter's family we realistically portrayed. I was completely on the edge of my seat through the whole book and while the end is partially concluded (in a satisfying way), the door is wide open for the next book in the series. Which I can not wait to read!!! Two things came across to me while I was reading. One, no matter what we go through God walks through it with us. Always working in every situation. Two, that God can change hearts and forgiveness is part of that change. That's not always easy as we see in Alexia's case. I thoroughly enjoyed When the Smoke Clears and would highly recommend it. It's an edge-of-your-seat tale that once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down!!! It's Book 1 in the Deadly Reunions Series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and returning once again to Moose Creek! Although something like the Founders Day mistake would probably never happen, the whole premise for it was fun. I truly LOVED all the interaction between Shay and Travis. I must say though, that Shay kinda grated on me a little. You could truly understand why she behaved the way she did. I mean the man did leave her at the altar, but the fact that she knew him her whole life it seems she would have been able to see that he had truly changed and that he was really trying. Travis was a swoon-worthy hero. Oh my! I loved the way he handled Shay and Olivia. He was strong yet patient even in the face of Shay's prickliness. There was enough sizzle between Travis and Shay to light the lamp I was reading next to. It was also really fun to see Abigail and Wade again. It made me want to go back and re-read A Cowboy's Touch. I also thoroughly enjoyed Miss Lucy. She and "her girls" are a hoot. I think one very important lesson in the story was that our self-worth or value should not come from what people think about us but what God thinks about us. Also, the way in which we behave affects, not only us, but those that are around us so we need to be careful. I always enjoy Denise Hunter's books and The Accidental Bride is no exception. In Hearts Key, Marianne Evans once again delivers a wonderful, heartfelt story that I thoroughly enjoy reading! She creates the greatest characters! You just love meeting them and getting to know them. I loved how Tyler related to Amy and her daughter. Speaking of Pyper, she will absolutely win your heart! Such a sweet little girl. As I was reading I was reminded that God loves us and forgives us even with all the mistakes we make. He takes our miserable failures and uses them for our good and for His glory. That's a great reminder because, lets face it, we all make mistakes that we deeply regret. I think for that reason, Amy is very relateable character. Tyler was an awesome guy! He had an impact on people (most especially on Amy and Pyper) because of his steadfast faith. It makes you want to be that way. I would highly recommend you pick up Hearts Key. It's a delightful and uplifting story. This is Book 4 in the Woodland Series and though you can read it as a stand alone, I suggest reading them in order. One thing that I really liked and appreciated was that she kept the characters from the first books involved in this story as well. I love that! I think the emotions of infertility were done in a realistic way. You truly felt the longing of Monica's heart! Jeremy was not only a great guy but a great example of living out your faith. As I was reading a couple things came to mind. One is that God's ways are not our ways. If you trust in Him he'll give you the desires of your heart but it may not be in the way you think. Two, I'm reminded that God works all things together for good! Hearts Communion is a beautiful story that you won't want to miss. It's the 3rd book in the Woodlands series. Although you can read this as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the books in order..Hearts Crossing, Hearts Surrender then Hearts Communion. Great job Marianne! I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to White, Arizona. I got caught up in their 12 days of Christmas celebration which was really neat. It made me want to go and live there and be a part. Chad and Tessa are both very likeable characters as well as all their families. The story has a easy pace to it. No major conflicts, just a nice, curl-up-on-the-couch-with-a-cup-of-cocoa kind of read. I recommend you enjoy a White Christmas! (no shoveling required)!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Polar Bear Plunge. The cover intrigued me as well as the story line. I LOVED the characters in this story. I found myself laughing, sighing and smiling. Ty will win your heart for sure and the dogs are so much fun. The dialog was snappy and the issues dealt with were very realistic. You could easily relate to Aleni. She judged Brice, I'm sure, much the way we would have. Brice is a total gem. He was a swoon-worthy hero!!!! Megan, Aleni's mother-in-law, is an absolute sweetheart. There is no way you can walk away from this story with hypothermia because it definitely warms you heart!!! I appreciated the reminder that God knows just what we need and when we need it and sometimes delivers it where and when we least expect it. So don't be left out in the cold, take the Polar Bear Plunge, it's guaranteed to warm you up!!!

What a GREAT little story! You will fall in love with the characters and the Evergreen Ridge Resort. The story has such an easy flow and yet has the depth of a longer story. Very heart-warming. I thought that for such a small story the characters were larger than life. The conflict between Luke and Savanna was handled in a realistic way and their reactions were so true to life. You'll also love the toe-curling kisses. I really appreciated the lodge's Christmas tradition. I thought it was really neat. You'll just have to read the story to find out what it is. If you're looking for a good Christmas read with lots of depth and a great message then I recommend Savanna's Gift.

Could it be that they just might find their own Christmas miracle along the way?

What an enjoyable story! I've not read anything by this author before but the storyline sounded very intriguing. Boy I'm sure glad I gave it try. It's a story that's very easy to read and keeps you turning pages to find out how it all turns out. It reads very much like a Christmas movie you might find on Hallmark this time of year. Though it was a short story (about 77 pages) it felt liked a full-length one to me. It didn't seem hurried at all. I really liked the lead couple. Samantha was an upbeat gal whose faith made a difference in the life of a brooding soldier named Ty. It just made me reflect that we have an impact on people and we need to always be conscience of that in light of how we behave. Some of the parts in this story were so touching to me I found myself getting the Kleenex. If you're looking for a good holiday read, I would recommend you pick up The Last Christmas Card. I'm sure glad I did!

This was a wonderful story and very easy to read. It really pulls you in from the beginning and holds your attention to the very end. I felt the characters were very well drawn and the author's description of the time period made me feel as if I was right there. The relationship between Rachel and James seemed very natural and you could definitely feel the spark. Rachel was a pretty amazing character. So full of inner strength yet she felt so lacking. I thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Mainprice and how her faith was so natural. The way she encouraged Rachel was inspiring to me. You get a picture of how devastating cholera was whether rich or poor and even doctors were brought down by the dreaded disease. It makes me thankful I didn't have live in that time. Can they find the killer before he gets his target?

Kill Shot is an excellent start to the Wounded Heroes Series and I for one can't wait for the next installment! Anne once again works her magic in blending just the right amount of humor, suspense and romance to keep you glued to the end. The characters were very well drawn and full of life. As always Anne gives us a strong, capable yet sensitive heroine. Kory is very easy to like! Anne also keeps you guessing until the end who's responsible for the killings. Sean is the perfect kind of hero. Confident and strong enough to handle a strong female. I loved the secondary characters! One of which was Kory's dog, Zinger and the other was her best friend, Digger, from the Army. I actually liked her whole Army unit. You could easily see why they were close knit. The subject of PTSD was realistically addressed as well as the roll faith has in a persons life. You realize how much of an impact having a loving church family can have on a persons life. It's a great reminder that as believers we are God's hands and arms to those who struggle. Anne Patrick is one of my favorite authors. If you haven't read one of her books I highly recommend you pick one up. If you are an Anne Patrick fan, Kill Shot is one you won't want to miss!! She interviews at Belmont Mansion for the job as Mrs. Acklen's personal liaison but soon realizes that Sutton Monroe is her personal attorney and close friend. Sutton has his own problems going on with his family's land and his father's reputation. Claire is both challenged and inspired by Sutton as well as Mrs. Acklen. Sutton is intrigued by Claire's sweet yet feisty personality. Claire knows that at some point she must be honest about her past but when she does it may cost her everything she holds dear!

A Lasting Impression was a charming tale loaded with lots of great characters that were well drawn and had lots of depth to them. You hit the ground running in the beginning of the story but I must admit that toward the middle it seemed a little slow. The last half of the book however was WONDERFUL! I have to say that Sutton and Claire will remain some of my favorite characters. There was a chemistry between them that was tangible. Mrs. Acklen was a wise woman. One thing she said to Claire was so good. She said, "Oftentimes, through the years, Miss Laurent...I've pondered how much is provided for us by God's goodness. So many sources of enjoyment, and how thankful we should be. We should not expect to have all the blessings of life and none of it's trials. It would make this world too delightful a dwelling place, and I fear we would nerve care to leave it." That's good advice for each of us. The story had a nice blend of humorous moments, serious moments, touching moments and tense moments. I was pretty sure that I knew how it would end but the journey in getting there was very rewarding. Tamera Alexander is known for her wonderful rugged western stories but I must say I'm confident she'll make A Lasting Impression with her Belmont Mansion Novel. But trouble is brewing and Luke knows that Georgie could end up in the middle of it. Will he be able to catch the Comer Gang and protect Georgie or will one come at the expense of the other?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I don't think I've read anything before on the subject of a switchboard operator so that was quite interesting. Even the job of a troubleman. I thought the story was well paced except I must say it waned just a little for me with all the 'bird parts' on the hats and the Audubon stuff but after that it was great! There was a real chemistry between Luke and Georgie and lots of good toe curling kisses! Luke is tough as nails on the outside but tenderhearted on the inside and Georgie is full of sass and grit. Together they make this a really fun story. I must say too that you'll want to be sure and read the authors note at the end. To me it made the story even better. If you're looking for a fun story with a bit of a sizzle then I recommend you try Love on the Line! This was a story that I enjoyed and certainly kept me turning pages. It had a some unexpected twists and turns which is always fun. Rick was a really great hero. Your heart really went out to him. It caused me to think about the real-life undercover cops who probably deal with the same type issues. It's gotta be tough. Ginny kinda bugged me a little bit with her attitude. I suppose that in her position I might feel the same way but it just seemed she always thought the worst of Rick even though 'what she thought he was' and 'how he behaved' were polar opposites. There were times when it was hard for me to understand why Rick would want to be with someone who thought so little of him. But that makes for good drama. I really liked the supporting characters, Kim and Zach. They added an extra spark to the story. Sandra Orchard is a new author to me but I look forward to reading her future works. Another great installment to the Shadow Series. I have grown so fond of the Reiley family and love how they operate. It is SO fun to watch. I love all the interaction and verbal play that goes on between them. They love and look out for each other just as a family should! I also like how the author continues to keep all the family members active in the story. To me that's what makes it not only good but also endearing. I like that the story had a satisfying conclusion but also left the door wide open for further stories. Which I am personally looking forward to. There is a such a good mix of action, suspense, and romance that it makes you want to keep turning pages. If you like a good romantic suspense you'll like Shadows of Pain. You could read this as a stand alone but I highly recommend you read them in order. Eva, what is the most interesting thing about you?

I would have to say the most interesting things about me are that I'm a model and I've acted in several different TV shows and movies.

What things are important to you?

Keeping slim and having the best looking boyfriend is what it's all about. If you don't have those things, you're sunk!

What are you most afraid of?

Afraid? Me? Please. I don't think I'm afraid of anything. Except, maybe someone else having a hotter date than me. That's probably the worst thing that could happen, but other than that, I'd probably say getting older and losing my looks. Faces like mine aren't cheap, you know!

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Nothing. I'm pretty much perfect as I am. I could understand your question if I had faults, but frankly, I just don't see any. I know most people, women especially, have a difficult time dealing with me or being my friend, but that's because they're jealous.

What do you do for fun?

I never stay home if I can help it. I love to shop, but only at the expensive stores, (just bought a new Prada bag today), I workout when I'm not shopping, (you do know I'm a model, right?), and it's rare when I don't go out in the evenings.

What is the most daring thing you've ever done?

The most daring? Well, once I ran out of money and I needed a place to stay because my jerk of a boyfriend broke up with me and kicked me out of his apartment. I went back to my ex-husband's place. I knew he wouldn't turn me out, especially if I told him I wanted to get to know our daughter. (Whom I haven't seen in years,) and what do you know? He had a girlfriend! And she was way too mousy for him. (Because even with all his faults and being rather boring, he was a hottie.) Technically, she wasn't his girlfriend, but I could tell she really liked him, so I broke them up. It was one of the best things I've ever done, so I guess you could say I was pretty daring to do that.

When the mayor is murdered and they arrest a troubled youth named Londy Atkins she is called to the scene. Carly interviews Londy hoping to gain a confession and be moved back to patrol where she really wants to be. Londy swears his innocence and as Carly talks with him she's inclined to believe him. Carly's ex-husband Nick is also an officer and feels Londy is telling the truth. Nick lost Carly because of a stupid mistake. He's since given his heart to the Lord and wants very much to prove to Carly that he's a changed man and win her back. But Carly isn't sure she wants to trust him again. As she continues to look into Londy's case she suspects things are not as they appear. But where can she turn and who can she trust?

Accused is an excellent, well-written, seat-gripping and soul-wrenching tale. I have not read anything by this author so didn't know what to expect but the cover really intrigued me. I promise you that once you pick up this book you will have a hard time putting in down. There were places in this story that actually caused me to gasp out-loud because it caught me by surprise. I also reached for the Kleenex as well. That's great writing that can do that. It felt in many ways like watching a movie because I could so clearly see in my mind how things played out. All the characters were very well developed and felt flesh and blood real. Their reactions and responses were true to life. You can tell this author used her vast experience as a police officer to give the story a real authenticity. I really appreciated how the spiritual message of hope was grafted so naturally into the story. It didn't feel forced or thrown-in and wasn't over-powering but it was powerful. After moving to a new town she first meets Scott Boone whose easy-going manner and handsome looks make him easy to like. Then when Becky and the kids visit a new church in town they find out Jack is the pastor. Becky has known Jack all her life and they have an easy rapport together. Then there's Pearce Morgan. The handsome, stand-offish rancher who is raising a daughter on his own after his wife divorced him. His shy daughter, Emily, seems to have taken to Becky and her kids. Only one will win her heart but which one will it be?

I LOVED this story. From beginning to end it kept me totally enthralled and wondering how it would all work out. Loaded with zippy dialog and great characters made for a fun and very satisfying tale. I really enjoyed Becky. She was a very relateable character. I liked the way she handled the situations that arose and found myself thinking I wish I was more like her in some ways. You will enjoy getting to know all the bachelors as you wonder, like her kids, who is the best fit for their mom. The kids will win your heart as they do their best to see their mom is happy. I must say I loved Curly. He's a wise old ranch hand you'll get to know as well. This story took me through a gamut of emotions. I felt happy, sad, excited, angry, and frustrated. You know a story is good when it has that effect. The theme running though our story is 'things may not always be as they appear'. It's a great reminder that man looks on the outside but God looks on the heart. If you enjoy an easy-to-read, fun and entertaining story with a great message I highly recommend Lonely Hearts. While hiking alone to gain some great photos she falls and gets her foot stuck. Shane Zadopec is her rescuer. A very handsome Bureau of Land Management ranger who's hobby also happens to be photography. Shane is attracted to Faith and Faith to Shane but Shane always seems to bring out her worst. Will the two ever seem to find a common ground?

I have always enjoyed Bonnie Blythe's work and Rock and a Hard Place is no exception. I will admit though that Faith had an attitude that somewhat grated on me in the beginning but if I were in Faith's shoes and went through the things she did I'm not so sure I would be any different. We all have our issues. Despite that, you can't help but like her. Shane was a great hero. You could see what Faith saw in him and why she felt inadequate. I do wish a little more of Shane's past would have been brought out. I really liked what Shane said to Faith at one point in the story, "I eventually came to understand I didn't have to depend of my feelings. Even if I didn't feel God's nearness, I always know He is near, because He says so in the Bible. And His word is solid, like a rock." I loved that statement and noted it in my Kindle. The story was well paced and just about the time you needed something to happen, it did. You'll enjoy the tense moments as well as the tender moments while taking in the Oregon mountain scenery along the way. This is book one in the Cascade Brides Series and the ending left me wanting the next installment. I recommend you pick up Rock and a Hard Place. Great job Bonnie!

That is until Clay shows up in the restaurant where she and Kent are having dinner and announces they are still married and that Brianna is still alive. Five girls are currently at Bluebird Ranch and to find out which of the girls is theirs they must hire on as counselors specifically a married couple. As they work together to find out which girl is theirs they slowly rediscover their love for each other. But they also stir up a beehive of trouble. Will things end before they even have a chance to begin?

WOW!!! This is Colleen Coble's best yet! A story I absolutely could not put down. From beginning to end I was glued to the pages 'til my eyes crossed and I had to get some sleep. I found myself hiding out just to be able to read a few more pages. I must say the chemistry ran strong between Eden and Clay, which I love! And one thing I appreciated very much was all the interaction between them. They didn't spend the whole book fighting like in some stories. I also enjoyed seeing the couples from the other Lonestar stories play a role in this tale as well. This was most certainly a story filled with mystery, suspense and action that kept me wondering until the end who was responsible. I like trying to figure it out! I think the message that it's our choice whether or not we trust God even when we don't understand things was well played out. That's a great message because there are lots of things that happen that we don't understand but God does. This could be read as a stand alone and you wouldn't feel lost but I think reading the other stories (Lonestar Sanctuary, Lonestar Secrets, Lonestar Homecoming) make for a much richer reading experience. If you've read the others (or even if you haven't) I highly recommend you pick up Lonestar Angel and stop by the Bluebird Ranch to meet Clay and Eden for yourself! Be prepare to stay awhile! Then Kate is kidnapped. Wyatt will have to draw on every ounce of faith and investigative skills he has to find her.

Saving Hope is a well written, multi-layered, realistic story that tackled the very difficult subject of child trafficking. It stirs your anger that people could actually be that evil. This tale definitely kept me turning pages as I experienced tragedy and triumph with Kate and Wyatt. I felt like the characters were well drawn and had realistic reactions and responses to the situations they faced. The story had enough of a romance to please romance fans but I think this would also appeal to non-romance fans because the romance didn't overshadow the story. I believe the emotions and the thought process of teens (especially girls) was spot on. It showed how easily they can be deceived and how important it is as a parent to be involved with your kids. I liked the way things were handled. There was a spiritual thread running through the story but it was unobtrusive and felt very natural. I loved the twist at the end that I didn't see coming. To me that's a big plus. If you enjoy a good romantic suspense then try Saving Hope. This is book one in Men of the Texas Rangers series. Looking forward to the next installment. One evening while volunteering at the USO in the airport she meets Lee McCord. He's a soldier who's been in Afghanistan but will soon be discharged. He and Annie talk over coffee and find they get along great. Annie's not sure how to deal with her feelings for Lee. Will Annie allow Lee to help her put to rest the memory of her husband and perhaps have a future with him or will she continue to grieve for the man who owned her heart?

This was an enjoyable clean short story. I have not read anything by this author so I had no idea what the book would be like. I felt there was a little something missing but I can't really pin-point what it was except that maybe the dialog between Annie and Lee seemed a little stiff. I liked both characters though and I actually liked the way the story concluded. The Soldier's Widow is okay if you're looking for a quick and light read.

THERE YOU'LL FIND ME by Jenny B. Jones

Finley Sinclair is trying to deal with the death of her brother while also trying to compose an ending to her audition piece she's to play at the Manhattan music conservatory called "Will's Song". She decides to study in Ireland and walk in her brothers footsteps using his travel journal. Maybe then she'll feel close to God, find peace and the ending for Will's Song. On the plane she meets Beckett Rush who is a well known actor on his way to Ireland to film his latest movie. Beckett is quite taken with Finley because it seems she's not impressed by who he is. He agrees to take her around Ireland if she agrees to be his assistant. She's also assigned an 'adopted grandmother' in a nursing home whom she's suppose to care for. But crotchety Mrs. Sweeney presents Finley with some really big challenges. There's also a few kids at school who are not real pleased with her relationship with Beckett and cause all kinds of trouble. And what exactly is hers and Beckett's relationship? As these stresses begin to pile up Finley begins to melt down. Will she be able to find an ending to her audition piece? More importantly will she find the inner peace that has seemed so far away or will she find it was closer than she thought?

This is one of those stories that will be floating around in mind for a long time to come. I absolutely LOVED this story for all that it was. It was so real. Finley was so relateable. Don't we all have times of doubt and question whether God is really there? I liked seeing how all the different people the Lord brought into Finley's life made an impact that changed her forever. Doesn't the Lord do that for us as well. Finley didn't see it that way though and I think that is totally with us too. Those difficult things we deal with (like Mrs. Sweeney) are tough but they change us in ways that living a smooth life wouldn't. I also loved Beckett and how he related to Finley. Even though his life was complicated he took time with her and gave some great advice. It was also fun to watch how the Lord used Finley in Beckett's life as well.

One thing that really drew me into the story was the humor. There was so many things that Finley said that just cracked me up. They were real things that you and I could have said or thought. But along with the humor there was a great amount of emotion and seriousness to this story. At some point we've all struggled with finding peace. I must say that even though this is billed as fiction for young adults I could easily relate the issues to my own life and found there was a lot of wisdom within these pages. This is the first book I've read from this author but I guarantee it will not be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed "There You'll Find Me" and highly recommend you take a trip to Ireland with Finley. I knew when I saw the totally awesome cover of Renegade Hearts that I absolutely had to find out the tale within. I was immediately drawn in by the gentle prose of this story. It truly matched the cover with an easy ebb and flow that I just loved! Though it was not an edge-of-your-seat type story I found myself glued to the pages because I became so involved with its true-to-life well-drawn characters. You will fall in love with each one them. Gil was an excellent leading man. I just loved the way he was with Jenny and Zach. (Big sigh!) Jenny is someone to admire. She was strong and independent but reasonable and tender. Zach will steal your heart hands down! He is such a great little man! And Buddy, Gil's Dad, was a total gem! Now don't get me wrong, this did have a mystery to it and as typical with Anne Patrick's stories, you don't find out the whole truth until the end. She always keeps you guessing. I just LOVED Renegade Hearts! It's an easy, feel-good, up-lifting tale you won't want to miss. A thank you goes to the author for providing this complimentary copy for my review.

Carie Lawson hits another home run with Beyond Baseball! WOW! I LOVED this story! It had it all. I found myself laughing (you will love the scene with Isabelle 'cooking' in the kitchen), crying, sighing and just plain loving ever minute of the story. In the other three stories we have gotten glimpses of the fun and playful Jude but this story allows you to see the whole man. And Ladies let me tell you...he's worth seein'! It was so much fun hanging out with all the McCords. They are such a neat family. You just want to be a part of them. I especially loved all the verbal sparring. Zane and Carly's girls are an absolute riot and will getcha right in the heart! Jude and Isabelle are a great match for each other. The romantic tension ran wild! It was fun watching to see what they would do next. The message of reliance upon the Lord ran strong through the story and caused me to ponder whether I was really doing that myself. Each of the four stories in the Twisted Roots Series can be read as stand alone but I would highly recommend that you start at the beginning. (Beyond Africa, Beyond Summer, Beyond Ever After and Beyond Baseball) It really is a journey of the McCord Family and you won't want to miss a single moment with them. Trust me. As much as I loved Beyond Baseball it was hard to say farewell to this family. I am really going to miss them but at least they're only a bookshelf away. Great job Carie! You truly feel like you walked the journey with these families. The way the story was laid out, with person, place and time in each section, really enhanced the reading experience. If you enjoy a great romantic suspense that keeps you hooked 'til the end, then I definitely recommend Race Against Time. She tries to use the oar but it seems hopeless. The drift is too strong. She prays for the Lord's intervention and winds up on the private island of the one known as the 'beast'. Grant Duncan's past has scarred him, both emotionally and physically, and isolation seems his only way to survive. Rumors of a treasure on the island along with the 'beast' folklore draw people to his private paradise. They are usually frightened away when they see him with his long spear in hand. But Savannah seems to be different. She is not easily intimidated by him and is even a little sassy. She's penetrated the imaginary walls of his island can she penetrate the walls of his heart as well?

I'm not really a big fan of short stories because I don't feel there's time to develop both characters and plot but I have to say that Stranded was nice little surprise. It carries all the elements of a longer story which made it a great read. Even though it's only 40 pages there was mystery, danger, humor and a spiritual message as well. You felt like you got to know the characters. It definitely made me wish the story was longer but when the end came I felt satisfied and not lacking, as with some short stories. I always enjoy this authors work and this is no exception. If you like a short story that feels complete then I suggest you try Stranded.

BANDIT'S HOPE by Marcia Gruver

He decides to stay on and help out with handyman jobs around the place. He and Mariah have an easy way with each other and things seem to be looking brighter. But both harbor secrets. What will happen when those secrets come to light?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It had a wonderful mix of romance, danger, suspense and humor. The characters were very well drawn and the dialog was very enjoyable. I especially fell in love with the playfulness of Tiller. There were two other characters that were really fun. Otis (the old man the gang went after) and Mariah's Uncle Joe. One line from the book that just made me laugh was when Joe said to Tiller "The mind of a woman is a deep river. I try not to fish there." It's that type of humor you'll find in this story and I just loved it. The underlying theme was really about forgiveness and I thought this author did a wonderful job in seeing that through. We all can relate to that subject. If you enjoy a good historical then I would definitely recommend Bandit's Hope. It's book 2 in the Backwoods Brides Series. Then Patricia finds a box of letters from her uncle that cause her to ponder her decision. She also has a chance to see Talon's deep faith in action. Wanting a little more time to decide what she really wants to do, she asks Talon to teach her to ride bulls. They both learn a lot more than they bargained for.

This was a great story. One I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. This author was new to me so I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew by the cover I wanted to find out what was tucked inside. The author has an easy writing style that makes reading a pleasure. Her characters were larger than life and I enjoyed getting to know them all. There was a secondary story going on with Talon's 'brother' Chance and Patricia's best friend Marie which was extremely enjoyable. Both Talon and Chance were wonderful heroes and very romantic. I loved all the interaction between all the characters. The description of the bull riding scenes were so good I felt like I was watching a movie. This story contained some great little spiritual nuggets you gather along the way which I really liked. I would love to see another installment. If you enjoy an easy-to-read contemporary western with lots of great characters then I suggest you try Give the Lady A Ride. I will be looking forward to other offerings by Linda Yezak.

Once there, they hear he set out west for Oregon to open a store. Elise and Anne secure a position in the next wagon train. Eb Bentley is a scout for the wagon train and doesn't think these two high-society ladies are going to be able to cut it on the trail. They begin to prove him wrong as they handle whatever needs come up and his doubt turns to admiration for these ladies...most especially one of the ladies. The trail west is a difficult journey and dangers lurk around every corner or perhaps in your own train.

This was an interesting story. It certainly painted a picture of how difficult traveling the Oregon Trail would have been. The author does well with describing the journey. I definitely tasted the dust and felt the heat on my skin. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters. There is also a secondary story going on with Anne and several potential suitors. I enjoyed the whole mystery surrounding David Stone. Although it wasn't a page turner, overall I enjoyed the story. The Lady's Maid is book one in the Prairie Dreams Series. She appears white but dressed in Comanche clothing. The nuns take her to the mission station to heal. Ned searches for the true identity of Taabe Waipu and finally finds out who she is and wants to bring her family together again. Her Comanche warrior, however, wants her back and will stop at nothing to get her. Will he be successful?

I enjoyed Captive Trail. It was one of those stories that grows on you as you read it. I enjoyed meeting all the characters. Taabe Waipu is a woman of great strength and as I was reading I was wondering if I would have been as strong she. I wasn't sure I was going to like Ned in the beginning but he really was a great guy. I would say this story is more of a historical than a romance although there is a touch of romance in it along with a bit of mystery. It's not what I would consider a fast paced story but toward the very end it became pretty intense and the ending was great! How the Lord can get us through impossible situations if we trust Him was the message I walked away with. I did feel the characters were well drawn and that the story was true to it's time period. Caffey Matthews is hiding her true identity to keep her deceased husband's enemies from finding her. She finds a new life and renews her faith in a remote ranch land. Rhee Ryland is a private investigator hired to find Caffey because his clients feel she has something to do with her late husbands shady dealings. What he doesn't expect to find is a loving, caring, down-to-earth woman who helps him remember his childhood faith.

This was a great little romantic suspense. I was quite surprised how full this story felt for being so short. I liked Rhee and Caffey and the secondary characters as well. There was one part of the story that was a little hard for me to believe (when Rhee talks to Zak's folks at the wedding) but that didn't detract from the story. There was a twist toward the end that I did not expect but I felt like it really enhanced the story a lot. The author reminds us in this tale that we should trust in the Lord and rely on Him. Always a great reminder. If you're looking for a quick but great romantic suspense give Faithful Danger a try.

DiAnn Mill's tag line is "expect an adventure". That's a great description for Attracted to Fire. The story was a definite page-turner as you gather information along with the lead couple. I enjoyed getting to know Ash & Megan. Their relationship seemed very natural. I enjoyed how Megan handled Lindsey and encouraged her to trust in the One who cares most for her. Getting a glimpse into the life of a secret agent was very interesting as it's something I've not really thought about. Would you be willing to take a bullet for someone? I liked how the author keeps the story at a steady pace until right near the end. I couldn't turn pages fast enough. The story felt true to life with all it's ups and downs. Along with some very tense moments there is also some great humor. I really like that. If you like a good romantic suspense then you won't want to miss Attracted to Fire. Then her dishwasher is found dead and her waitress disappears. Greg finds himself wanting to help her and in the process also notices how very attracted he is to her. Carrie has some real trust issues and Greg doesn't know if he can ever love again. Will they be able to confront their fears and find love or will it be too late?

This was a story that caught me by surprise. The cover and title led me to think this was a cozy-type mystery. But it was oh-so-much-more than that. It's written in a first person POV which I must admit is not my favorite viewpoint. However, I found myself really drawn into the story and caring about the characters. The main characters have moments of reflection which tell their background story. I felt like all the characters, villains included, were very well drawn and realistic. This author tackled the subjects of love, loss, child abuse, cults, murder, alcoholism, PTSD and second chances. The seriousness of the subjects was not at all what I expected when I began reading the book but it had a depth to it that really surprised me. The theme running throughout the story was 'there is a time for every purpose under heaven' and I think the author did a wonderful job playing that out. The story starts out at a somewhat slow pace but continues to build and culminates to an nail-biting conclusion. I have to add that though the story dealt with serious subjects there were plenty of humorous moments to break the tension. I thoroughly enjoyed Shadows on the Sand and would definitely recommend it to those who like a good romantic suspense. Surrender the Dawn is the story I have waited for. We first met Luke Heaton in Surrender the Heart when his position was Noah's first mate. I admit I was drawn in by his roguish way and have been waiting for his story. I was not disappointed! Though rough around the edges he definitely won my heart. I totally enjoyed the banter between Cassandra and Luke. I sometimes wanted to shake Cassandra for her 'quick-to-think-the-worst' attitude. But I know I can be guilty of that as well. The theme running through the story is 'whatever happens to us, be it good or bad, is for our best interest and that God is good ALL the time'. A great thing to remember in our troubled times. One thing I always appreciate about MaryLu's writing is the amount of research she does. I love the way she brings history to life in a living breathing story. In this particular installment there is a special appearance of someone famous on the ship toward the end of the book which I thought was a really neat touch. Great job MaryLu! This is the third book in the Surrender to Destiny Series. It can be read as a stand alone but I would definitely recommend you start with book one, Surrender the Heart, then book 2, Surrender the Night for a much richer reading experience. A River to Cross is an EXCELLENT story and going down as a top favorite of mine. WOW, from beginning to end I could not put the story down. I absolutely loved our lead couple. Jake and Elizabeth were outstanding characters. I fell in love with Jake. He has all the things I love to see in a hero. You really have to read the story to appreciate his character. Elizabeth was spunky, smart and full of grit. A great match for a certain Texas Ranger. I really appreciated the fact that there was a lot of interaction between the two of them. (To me that's what really makes it good.) And boy was it fun to watch. I also loved Jake's men. Seeing how they worked together was amazing. This story had it all, action, suspense and romance but it also had some very good humor. I found myself laughing in several spots. I enjoyed learning about Texas Rangers. How and why they got started along with how they were trained. It was a very interesting and turbulent time. It sounds like some of the things from today's headlines. The beautiful cover of this novel drew me in but the story inside is over-the-top-good! If you enjoy a great historical then don't miss this one. I highly recommend A River to Cross. Trust was the theme of the story. Not just learning how to trust 'someone' but mainly trusting God. Especially when we see things that cause us to doubt. This author weaves into the story the fact that we should never take our eyes off the Lord and always give Him our unconditional obedience. Great stuff! The best part is, that this great and timely message is wrapped up in an awesome story that you just can't put down. Harmony Village is so inviting it makes you want to live there. Actually while you're reading the story you feel like you do. On Wings of Trust is the fourth book in the Harmony Village Series and one I definitely recommend! Can't wait for the next installment! What a great adventure! This author does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story and keeping you involved until its heart-racing conclusion. I must say I am a real fan of pirate stories and when I saw the beautiful cover and the title, I knew it was a 'must read'. While this is not your typical pirate story it did have pirates in it and contained plenty of action, suspense and romance. I enjoyed the whole cast of characters. Dorian is a strong hero who is very protective of Kendra. Kendra is strong in determination. I loved watching these two interact. I also really liked Dorian's friend John. What a fun personality he had. The underlying theme of this tale was trusting and relying on the Lord. I think the author painted some great pictures of what unforgiveness and greed looks like as well as what trust and obedience looks like and the outcome of them both. A Texan's Promise is going down as one of my top favorites! A gritty and realistic tone gave this tale a real authenticity. From the first page until the hair-raising conclusion I was absolutely glued to the pages. I loved everything about this story including the cover. The characters were very well drawn and fully fleshed out. The dialog was totally awesome. The romantic tension between Clayton and Vanessa sizzled. The electricity between them was so strong it lit the room I was reading in. I loved it! One thing I thoroughly enjoyed was that there was lots of interaction between Vanessa and Clayton. Clayton was a swoon-worthy hero! I loved the way he was with Vanessa. Vanessa was a great heroine with lots of spunk but a tender heart. The author tackled the subjects of abuse, trust, forgiveness, war, honor, friendship, love and faith. I especially liked watching the growth of the characters. It really felt natural and not forced at all. God is always with us was the theme running through the story. A good reminder when we face difficult things. I highly recommend A Texan's Promise. It's truly inspiring. This is book one in The Heart of a Hero Series and you can bet I'll be watching for the next installment. Fantastic job Shelley!!! At least she was before she became a believer. Now she's attempting to start a new life but knows that if the townsfolk knew what she really was they wouldn't be so accepting . Then break-ins and robberies begin to occur and the towns people and the deputy believe it's the street kids. Livy defends them and even begins to sway Jake's opinion. But a past has a way of catching up with a person. Can the little spark between Jake & Livy grow into a flame or will it fizzle out when Jake finds out about Livy's past?

This was a great story. I love the cover and when I saw it, it made me want to find out what was inside. I'm glad I did! The author has an easy writing style that just draws you in and holds you there. The characters were very believable and easy to relate to. Livy struggled with forgetting her past and the mistakes she'd made. I think we all can relate to that. Jake was a great lead. Strong but he had some insecurities. Don't we all. I enjoyed watching Jake and Livy interact and struggle with their growing feelings for each other as well as their faith. I liked all the secondary characters as well. I think the author did a wonderful job of weaving into the story the message of forgiveness, new beginnings and second chances. The street kids will absolutely win you over as your heart goes out to them. The story kept a steady pace but ramps up toward the end to a point that I found myself rushing though the pages. If you like historicals then you won't want to miss Stealing Jake. I look forward to more from Pam Hillman. He'll agree to grant both what they want if they agree to marry. Alex and Charlotte agree to Daniel's terms but they strike a bargain of their own between each other. A bargain that Alex will annul their marriage as quickly as possible. Will they follow through with their bargain or will they decide that an inconvenient marriage might not be so bad?

This was a really fun story. Right from the very beginning you become involved with the characters and they keep you entertained until the very end. Charlotte was a real hoot. Her feisty ways made you just want to keep reading to find out what she would do next. Alex was the consummate hero. I loved how he handled Charlotte but also the way he stepped up to the plate in handling his family as well. There were some moments between him and Charlotte that just made me sigh! I also enjoyed the character of Daniel Beck. He knew his daughter and knew what was best for her. I liked that he wasn't fool easily. This was the third book in a series but I didn't feel lost not having read the other two. If you enjoy a lighthearted, fun, feel good, uplifting story, then I suggest you pick up The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck. It will keep you smiling. Trey and Chelsea both begin to have strong feelings for one another but Trey needs to tell Chelsea the truth and Chelsea is determined not to fall for another lawman. When danger knocks on their door it just might put things into a new perspective.

I really like the way Dora Hiers writes. This tale kept me fully engaged from beginning to end with touching moments, tense moments and several parts that just made me laugh. The whole cast of characters were very well drawn and believable. I especially liked our lead couple and enjoyed cheering them on as they worked their way through love, faith and fear. I loved the Romantic tension between Trey and Chelsea. You could just 'feel' it. If you like romantic suspense then you won't want to pass this up. I recommend Journey's End and look forward to other works by this author.

Another great story from Karen Witemeyer. This is the second book I've read by this author and I really like her style of writing. To Win her Heart is filled with lots of great characters. Eden was someone you really liked. She was very sweet and sincere but had a judgmental side to her. I think Eden represents most of us pretty well. Probably more than we want to admit. Levi was a really great hero. Even though he had a very tainted past, you could really see how the Lord had changed his heart. But you also saw how he still struggled with temptation. I think that was so realistically represented. Most of us can relate to that aspect as well. I loved the interaction between our two main characters. You really felt their attraction. I also enjoyed Eden's father. He brought a smile to my face. And I can't forget to mention Ornery the dog. He will steal your heart right from the start. When Miranda has an accident that lands her in the hospital, her oldest son Timothy calls Jack to come and help. It was a phone call that would change both Jack and Miranda's lives forever.

When Sparrows Fall was a wonderful debut novel. It was full of well drawn likeable characters that felt very real to me. Especially Jack. He felt like he could walk right off the page. I loved his sense of humor and how he handled Miranda and the children was brilliant. Miranda was a great character too. You really felt her struggle between keeping things status quo and the freedom Jack's lifestyle offered. I fell in love with the kids. How they relate to Jack and how he relates to them adds so much to the story. I found myself smiling a lot. I think the message is pretty clear that this type of religious situation is not healthy. We have a freedom in Christ that shouldn't be oppressive. Watching Miranda and Jack, who have opposite views, come together for the common good of the children was well done. A Familiar Evil is one of those stories that once you start reading you just can't stop. It has all the elements I have come to love about Anne Patrick's writing. Great characters, zippy dialog and lots of red herrings all wrapped up in 'edge of your seat' suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed Sam and Jordan. The interaction between these two was electric. I liked all the secondary characters as well, especially Devin. He's only 9 but what a little charmer he is. I loved all the advice he gave Sam. I enjoyed watching Sam and Jordan work through their issues. It was done in a realistic and believable way. The story keeps a steady pace then ramps up to it's nail-biting conclusion. As with all of Anne's stories, she keeps you guessing on who the killer is until the end. I love that! I highly recommend A Familiar Evil but be sure to set aside a block of time...you're going to need it. It's a great story! This was a wonderful story. I found myself glued to the pages from beginning to end. There were many times throughout the story I would put my self in Susannah's shoes and think, WOW, could I have done that? The lead couple in this story were so well written. Jesse was awesome. How he handled Susannah and their whole situation was excellent. I LOVED the dialog!!!! I appreciated how the author wrote him as a realist 'man'. There was an honesty in this story that I just really liked. Susannah was a wonderful leading lady. She was timid and trying to behave proper and lady-like as she was raised but Jesse quickly pointed out that in Dakota that really doesn't do you any good! I loved watching these two work to find their balance. Life in the Territory was extremely harsh and I thought the author did a wonderful job of painting a vivid picture of the area. I felt like I was there. The spiritual thread of 'depending upon God' ran realistically through the story. I didn't feel like it was forced at all. If you enjoy historicals, this is one you won't want to miss. I am looking forward to other works by Catherine Richmond. I might make mention that I really liked the cover of the book. Glass Angels deals with the after effects of rape and forgiveness. Those are difficult subjects to tackle. No doubt that many of the feelings and emotions surrounding our lead couple rang true. I know that forgiving your rapist and your father who put you in that position would be extremely difficult. The story is really Samantha's journey in learning how to do that. It didn't seem quite right for her to say things like, "they don't deserve to be forgiven" knowing that as a Christian you've been forgiven and called to forgive but I also know that in our humanness it can be very easy to head down that road. Kyle was a great hero. We caught a glimpse of him in Foolish Games but in this story you really get to know him. I liked the inner strength he had and the patience he showed toward Samantha. We also get to see the rest of the family as they do their best to help both Samantha and their father through a difficult time. Along with the main story there is a secondary story going on with Kyle's son Chad and his girlfriend Winnie. Glass Angels is the fourth book in the Family Heirlooms Series. Peter Samuels lost his wife Lydia about a year ago. Because of the close relationship they had the grief has been overwhelming. I really enjoyed Foolish Games. You journey with Peter as he deals with trying to move on after the loss of his wife and also begins dealing with growing feelings toward Kimberly. As the reader you truly feel his struggle. The honesty of Peter's thoughts touched my heart. He was a great hero. Kimberly is also trying to work through past issues concerning her father but finding it very hard. I know that in reality some do hold on to their anger even when they know it's wrong. We also find a secondary story going on with Peter's sister, Samantha. Her father is asking her to befriend Ryder Feldmann, a young man he's counseling and a man she's afraid to be around. What happens to them is the set up to the next book in the series. Foolish Games is the third book in the Family Heirlooms Series. What an emotionally packed tale! I read this very quickly because I found myself so immersed in the lives of both Joshua and Justine. You can tell (feel actually) that they love each other very much but don't really know how to express it. Once again this author allows you see inside the heads of our lead couple so you know just what they're thinking and I really do enjoy that. I loved Joshua. He was all the things a good hero should be. Kind, gentle and protective but he really had difficulty with expressing his feelings. I liked Justine. She was very capable and yet unsure. I enjoyed watching this couple strive to redefine and save their marriage, grow as individuals and learn how to be with each other. I also loved their daughter Vashti. She was so bubbly and interested in helping her parents. There is a little twist near the end that was great. I must confess that the missions trip is my favorite part in this story. I can see myself going back and reading that again. Great dialog. If you've ever had problems in your marriage many aspects of this story will be relate-able. Tamara has always been a stay-at-mom and loved taking care of her husband and family but now that she has a little extra time on her hands she wants to doing something she loves, making hand woven gift baskets. Even better is that people might be willing to pay for them which would give them some much needed extra money as there oldest son is going to college. Robert has worked at the same place for years and has all the right experience for an upcoming promotion opportunity but he may be passed up because of his lack of a college degree. It has been drilled into him by his father that a man takes care of his family. So when Tamara mentions selling the gift baskets he views it as a threat. Robert thinks that maybe if they had another child Tamara wouldn't be so restless. Can their faith see them through a situation where there seems to be no compromise?

I found this to be quite an interesting tale. In a lot of fiction stories you find the lead couple young and never been married. Not so in this story. This lead couple has been married a number of years and their world is somewhat shifting because their youngest child is now in school. How things had always been were changing. Change can be a scary thing to an insecure person. Robert was insecure. I really liked Robert. He was sweet and loving to Tamara but I felt like he was being unreasonable about Tamara's basket business. Although as you get to know his background you can somewhat understand why he felt that way. Our emotions aren't always reasonable. I liked Tamara as a leading lady. She displayed an inner strength that helped her deal with her husband's issues in the right way. I also liked how this couple was determined to make things work. I think sometimes couples are just too quick to give up. So I appreciated the way they were determined to see it through. Tamara always strove to do the right thing in the right way. In the story there is a male friend who has feelings for Tamara (unbeknownst to her) and he's very supportive to her when her husband is not. She confides in him that Robert isn't happy about her business. I think a valuable point was made in the story that it's not healthy for a married woman to have another man as a confidante. Very wise advice. I enjoyed the way the author allows us to see each of the characters internal struggles which is helpful in understanding why they think the way they do. I enjoyed all the secondary 'family' characters too and look forward to hearing their stories as well. Baby, Baby is the first book in the Family Heirlooms Series. I have just loved the Callahan's of Texas Series. Megan's Hero was such a great addition to the series. This author has such an easy flow to her writing that you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the journey. I really liked that she kept all the family interactive in each of the stories. To me that's what made this series so endearing. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Megan. She felt so unworthy of the kind of love and friendship that the Callahan's, most especially Will, showed her. It really showed how powerful love can be and a good reminder of how God uses people as a way of showing His love and care for us. I loved how Will handled Megan with gentleness and tenderness. His sweet words were like a soothing balm. Megan's Hero can be read as a stand alone but I would definitely recommend reading Jenna's Cowboy and Emily's Chance first for a more richer reading experience. Yesterday's Tomorrow is brilliantly written and emotionally compelling! Catherine West drops you in the middle of Vietnam where you live out Kristin's journey with her. I could feel the heat, taste grit in my mouth and hear the explosions in the hills. My heart grieved with Kristin as she watched many soldiers breathe their last. Though the subject is a very sobering one, there is humor sprinkled throughout the story. I really appreciated that. The characters are larger than life and fully fleshed out. Luke is the strong, silent, brooding type but you can't help but love him. Kristin is independent and gutsy! The romantic tension between them is awesome! This is the type of story that you can't put down. The author keeps your attention from beginning to end! One thing I appreciated very much about this story was that the author didn't sugarcoat anything. She showed things in a gritty and realistic way. The faith element in the story was done very well. It didn't feel forced at all. This is the authors debut novel but it sure doesn't read that way. You can easily see why this has received so many 5 star ratings. The design of the cover is beautiful and it's what drew me to the story to begin with. I HIGHLY encourage you to pick up Yesterday's Tomorrow. It's a story you won't soon forget! I am looking forward to more from Catherine West! Awesome job!

Daniel Tremain was born in poverty but also harbored a love of music. Though these two were from opposite sides of the track they became best friends. But when it becomes a hint more than that her father sends her away to London to live with her aunt. It's there she writes an article concerning the poor working conditions of miners but especially the poor children sent down to work in the mines. It stirs such hostility that she is deported back to the US. There she meets up again with Daniel. All the feelings are still there and yet things are very different. He has become a very wealthy man but much of his drive comes from old grudges he can't let go of. As Clara speaks of God's forgiveness he turns into a man she hardly recognizes. But when Clara's life is endangered he is forced to deal with issues he has kept close to heart.

What a wonderful debut novel. Elizabeth Camden writes like a seasoned author. This story was full of likeable characters, zippy dialog and spiritual truths. Clara was the type of woman you could look up to. She wasn't perfect but she truly tried to live out her faith. I liked that Clara was willing to take a stand for her faith even though it would personally cost her. Daniel was such a charming fellow. I love the way he was with Clara and the relationship they had. Though there were spots where you could see his bitterness come shining through. How true that could be for us too. The cover of this novel is beautiful and gives you the idea of a somewhat sedate story, but not so. It kept me turning pages but especially the last third of the book. Wonderful suspense and unexpected twist! You also don't find out who the real culprit is until the end. I like that. I also really liked how this author brought everything together at the end. I look forward to future offerings by this author. If you haven't read The Lady of Bolton Hill I recommend you pick it up. What a fun and touching western romp! This is the first book I've read by Margaret Brownley and I can assure it won't be my last. I really enjoyed all the humor scattered throughout the story. Lucy was such a fun character because she was easily relate-able. She was a sweet and warm girl with lots of spunk! I really like that in a heroine. David Wolf was a hero that you just like right away. How he handled Lucy was so enjoyable to watch that there were several parts I went back an re-read. A lot of the story centered around something that happened 20 years earlier and how that not only shaped the lives of those involved but those close to the ones involved. That's really how life is. What we do doesn't affect just us but those close to us. The story also had to do with forgiveness. A great theme and a good reminder that although forgiveness is not always easy we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven. One thing that was really fun were the photography notes from Miss Gertrude Hasslebrink at the top of each chapter. They were a hoot. As I was reading this story I was thinking that this would make a great Hallmark movie. This is the third book in the Rock Creek Romance Series but I didn't feel lost having not read the other two. Since Tina and Milly are good friends Milly asks if she would mind helping out a friend with some advice about dealing with his children. Tina loves her job and is always willing to help so she gladly accepts not realizing that the friend Milly was talking about was the incredibility handsome produce guy that delivers produce to Milly's Tea Shop! Zack Cooper is trying hard to keep it all together since his wife left him and the kids four years ago. He thought things were going fine until both his kids start getting into trouble. Feeling out of his league he shares a little of this with Milly. Milly encourages him to call Tina. When Tina and Zack finally meet there is definitely a spark. But their relationship is strictly professional. Will they keep it professional or will that spark turn into a full fledged flame?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I loved the whole tea shop setting. It was such a warm and friendly place to go. Milly is such a sweet and wise woman. I loved our lead couple. No cardboard characters in this tale. They were as real as real could be. Tina was such a down-to-earth person and I loved how real she was. She was someone I could be friends with. Zack was a great guy. I loved his gentlemen ways and sweet yet tough personality. Dylan and Sherry were great kids too. I enjoyed the interaction between all of the characters. The story dealt with some complicated issues but there was also lots of humor throughout. I like that. This author does a great job at keeping your interest from beginning to end and does such a good job with her description that I could smell and almost taste the yummy treats that Milly was bringing out for Tina to try while in her tea shop. There is a spiritual thread running through the story but nothing heavy. I would call this a feel good, uplifting story, filled with lots of great characters and zippy dialog. He checks Kyle first and it really doesn't look like he's going to make it but Devon tries to be encouraging. Kyle pleads with Devon to take care of his wife for him. Makes Devon promise and Devon accepts as Kyle breathes his last. When they take Chloe to the hospital she begs Devon to go with her and not to leave her alone. As he tries to fulfill his promise to Kyle he begins to have feelings for Chloe. Feelings he's unfamiliar with. Chloe is having a hard time letting go of Kyle but she does have feelings for Devon. Devon knows he's found the right woman but will Chloe accept a second chance at love?

I really enjoyed this story. It kept me turning to pages to find out the outcome, although in all honesty, I guessed how it would end. But all the in-between stuff was great. Chloe was a good lead although she was rather stubborn. To the point I wanted to shake some sense into her. Devon was a gem. He so quietly cared for Chloe and really tried to be what she needed at a personal cost to him. There were several spots where I found myself wiping tears from my eyes. I know it's a good story when that happens.

But he is drawn to the lovely girl in the gatehouse. There is much he doesn't know about Mariah. When he finds out the truth will he turn away from her or will love conquer all?

This was very good tale from Julie Klassen. The way this author writes made everything come to life in my minds-eye so it was much like watching a movie. There is lots of characters to get to know and several sub-plots but it was well done so as not to feel overwhelming. I will admit that there were parts that were a little slow for my taste but the last third of the book kept me turning pages. Lots of twists and turns throughout and a totally satisfying ending. I enjoyed learning that lots of writers published anonymously in that era and most especially women. I also liked the way the author sprinkled little bits of the mystery surrounding the Prin-Hallsey family. It was fun trying to put all the pieces together. There was an underlying theme of faith and forgiveness that seemed natural to the story. When you read the book be sure to catch the authors note. She had some interesting things to say. He knows that someone like Cassie would never be interested in him. Or could she? But evil lurks right around the corner. How will all come out???

WOW! What an adventure! I was enthralled from beginning to end. It was a great balance of action, suspense, romance and realism. I loved all the nuggets of truth and word pictures that were tucked between the pages. I wish I could give some examples but it would present spoilers so I will say read the story and find them. There were several heart stopping moments and a few BIG gasps but along with those were splashes of humor where I found myself laughing out loud. The author painted a very real picture of the harshness of life in that century. You almost can't imagine living in it. I really liked Alarik. He was a good man. I loved the dialog between him and Cassie. Ragnar was an awesome hero. The way he lived out his faith was inspiring. Cassie was the perfect leading lady. Her stubborn ways sometimes found her in trouble but she displayed an inner strength and a soft heart that were admirable. I have never been a big fan of time-travel stories but Michelle Griep stories are a MUST READ! This was one of those stories that stays with you long after you close the book. But Kylie has a bad reaction when she sees any kind of facial disfigurement. How will she ever be able to help Rick with her phobia and then there is Rick's sweet daughter who has scaring on her face from being in a fire. Kylie just knows that a relationship with Rick is impossible or will she learn that with God all things are possible?

I thoroughly enjoyed Kylie's Kiss, the second installment of the Solomon's Gate Series. I really liked getting to know our lead couple and loved that we got to see Destiny, Clay, Julie and CJ again as well. This story had a such a nice flow to it and was very romantic. There was a history of conflict between Kylie and her sister, Shay, but when Shay returned home I appreciated the way she handled Kylie and stood up for her. Rick was a great hero! The way he was not only with Kylie but also his sweet daughter just made my heart beat a little faster. I really felt for Kylie. She was such a sweet woman but had such a poor self image. It really makes you realize how powerful our words can be and how careful we should be with the things we say. Some parts of the story were very touching and some gave me a good chuckle. Like the name of the doctor that treats Kylie after her accident. You'll have to read the story to find out what it is! You could read this as a stand alone but reading the first book really brings it together nicely. If you've already read Destiny's Dream then you will definitely want to read Kylie's Kiss. But when Destiny receives a threatening phone call Clay steps in to be her personal guard and keep her safe. The question is can he guard his heart?

The was an enjoyable story. I liked that it was really like having two stories in one. Destiny was an interesting character. It seemed like she and Clay fit together well. I had kind of a hard time liking Destiny's sister though. She seemed a bit harsh to me. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding who was threatening Destiny and you don't find out until very near the end who it was. I really enjoyed CJ (Clay's brother). He was a neat character. The whole Christian Dating Service idea was an interesting concept. I thought this author did a great job with the ending.

Erin just might be in danger of not only losing her heart but her life!

Souls on BOring Street was the third book in the Denim Blues Series and was Tyler Shaw's story. We met Tyler in Love is Blind. He's Orlando's partner. I fell in love with Tyler! He was so quiet in book 2 that I wasn't sure about him but he really comes to life in this story. His quiet strength, gentle ways and sweet words were captivating. I loved the way he handled Erin. He was so patient with her. I liked Erin but got a bit weary of her reason for not accepting Ty's love. Especially when he had really proved over and over again that he wasn't anything like her father. I thought it was so neat that Erin loved to cook and be at home. She was a very loving and caring woman. I enjoyed watching Sylvia and Keeya seek out friendship with her. It made me want to be in the group! Yes, there is a story behind the street name but you have to read the story to find out what it is! The mystery doesn't really develop until about half-way through the story but it keeps you guessing. There is an unexpected turn at the end that was really good! I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and am looking forward to the Red Velvet Series where we will revisit Den & Sylvia, Orlando & Keeya and Tyler & Erin once again with some new mysteries to solve. Orlando doesn't know how he'll ever get past the love of his life choosing to marry another man until he meets the beautiful Keeya Nilsen. Keeya is visually impaired from a plane crash that killed her family. Her best friend Blair also survived the crash but her face is badly marred. Blair takes care of Keeya's visual needs. After the man Keeya's been dating disappears and she finds her bank account empty and a chest of hand written songs by her famous Blues artist grandfather missing, she seeks the help of the police. As Orlando searches for answers his feelings for Keeya are quickly becoming stronger. Men have always used Keeya for their own personal gain but somehow she senses safety with Orlando. Will they find the chest of priceless music? Will they each find the kind of love they have sought for so long?

This story had a lot going on. We got to know Orlando much more closely in this this story and what a great guy he was. I really liked how he described to Keeya what love was and then quoted 1 Cor. 13. (Sigh)! I appreciated that Orlando never compromised his belief that a physical relationship was reserved for marriage. (Not that the desire wasn't there). He lived out what he said he believed. That's important! Keeya was a sweet character. I liked watching her grow and gain courage she didn't know she had. Orlando was very supportive and made a difference in her life because of it. I fell in love with Orlando's family too! This is an inspirational read but deals with mature subject matters and so I would call it 'edgy'. There are a few 'words' in the story but I felt they were true to the characters who were saying them. I would have liked to see a little more of Den and Sylvia but they did make some cameo appearances. You could read this as a stand alone but you get a much better understanding of the storyline if you read Retired and On the Rocks first. Another great page-turner. So, when the mayor's ex-fiance comes in asking if she can hire them to find her missing engagement ring Sylvia agrees to take the case. She instantly calls Den knowing that he can't resist solving a mystery. He agrees to work with Syl to find the ring all the while praying that she will open up to him about the secrets that she's keeping. Her former partner and best friend Orlando also loves her and wants to be more than friends. Who will win her heart and will they ever find the missing ring?

This was a great tale. It had all the things I like in a story. Great dialog, a mystery that I couldn't figure out and a great leading couple. As I was reading the story what came to mind was the TV show Hart to Hart. This story sorta had that feel to it except the lead couple are not married. I really liked how the author held the mystery a mystery until the end and then it's all laid out. I thoroughly enjoyed Denim and Sylvia. Although I was a little frustrated with Sylvia at times for not trusting Denim. Orlando was a great guy too. One thing I appreciated was the way that Denim and Orlando reacted to each other. Though they both had feelings for Sylvia they behaved like grown men. This is a story that kept me turning pages and was difficult to put down. If you enjoy a clean romantic read with a great mystery then I recommend Retired and On the Rocks. Looking forward to Love is Blind...and it Don't Pay the Bills Either. But he knows for sure he does not need a shrink. Gracie is a sweet and cheerful person and really wants to help Tyler integrate himself back into the 'real' world. He's not too happy about that but when Gracie receives several threats and he sees her fear is real he is compelled to be her protector.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in the Emerald Coast 911 Series but I have to say that this is my favorite so far. I liked everything about this story. I read it in a day because I could not put it down. It kept me turning pages as I journeyed with Tyler and Gracie down some pretty tough roads. The underlying theme of 'God being unchangeable even if our circumstances change' was played out very well. I liked that there was a sub-story going on between Matt and Lara (from Smoke Screen). That was fun. Tyler is Matt's brother. The author did a great job developing the characters so that I truly feel like I know these folks in the Sea Breeze community. If you enjoy Dee Henderson, Anne Patrick and Irene Hannon I would recommend not only Point Blank Protector but any of Stephanie Newton's books. Looking forward to the next adventure! But Issy and Caleb soon find themselves becoming friendly with one another. Is it like Miss Foolish Heart says..."your perfect love just might be right next door???"

When I started reading My Foolish Heart I was thinking that this is a cute story but as I continued to read I realized there was a whole lot more to it. This story reached so many emotional areas. It covered PTSD, guilt, shame, forgiveness, faith, disabilities and more. It really had 2 story lines going on which I really enjoyed. You have the relationship between Issy and Caleb but you also have something between Lucy and Seb. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these characters grow and change and as they did it encouraged me as well. They had some difficult things to tackle and it made me reflect how I might behave in that situation. Though this story dealt with emotional issues there was splashes of humor right where you needed them. Faith and trust in God was the the underlying theme but it wasn't shown as an instant fix. It was shown in a very real and tangible way. I enjoyed returning to Deep Haven again. See some familiar faces and meeting some new ones. Although it's part of the Deep Haven Series you could easily read it as stand alone. If you enjoy a really good story with a great spiritual message then I recommend My Foolish Heart. A Cowboy's Touch was simply a delightful tale. I enjoyed every minute of the journey. Abigail Jones was stressed and it was affecting her health. So her mother suggests that she go check on the health of her great aunt who lives in Moose Creek, Montana and at the same time take a much needed rest. There she meets Wade Ryan, a single dad in need of a nanny for the summer. Abigail is taken with Maddy (Wade's daughter) right away and agrees. She also finds herself attracted to Wade. Wade has no intention of getting involved but he sees how Maddy has bloomed since Abigail's been there and how he enjoys her company and sense of humor. Abby is finding her faith again and discovering she's not really wanting the summer to end. Abigail is keeping a secret though. When the secret finally comes out, will it drive away the one person she finally feels at home with?

I REALLY liked this story. It drew me in from the beginning and held me there until the end. I loved all the characters and felt they were very well drawn. Very life-like. I thoroughly enjoyed Abigail and loved her sense-of-humor. I found myself laughing out loud in several places because of the things she said. I also loved her down-to-earth quality. Wade was an awesome hero. His sweet & tender ways could make ya swoon! The interaction between him and Abby was terrific. Maddy will easily win your heart. She won mine! This was just an all-around feel good kind of story but it also addressed the issues of guilt, finding the Lord and forgiveness. Denise Hunter does stories of the heart SO well! Though Rose hates the British for all the things they've done she shows mercy to Alex by hiding him and tending his wound. Should she be found out her whole family could be executed. Slowly she begins to see that Alex is not like the rest of the British soldiers. He stirs something inside her like no one ever has. She seems to feel safe when she's around him. Rose has a suitor though who wants her land and her and will stop at nothing to gain what he wants. What will happen if he should find out that she's helping the enemy?

Surrender the Night is one of those stories that grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let you go until you turn the last page. MaryLu does a fantastic job of bringing history to life. She made me feel like I was right there in the midst of war asking myself the whole time, "How would I have handled that?". I really liked our lead couple. I could easily relate to Rose. Alex was an excellent hero. You really felt the anxiety in both Alex and Rose as they each dealt with many emotions. I love what I felt was the theme of the story which was 'nothing is impossible with God'. We see the characters struggle with the same issues we struggle with today. Trusting God with what seems to be impossible. It was also great to see Noah and Marianne again as well as Luke Heaton and some other favorites from Surrender the Heart. I highly recommend Surrender the Night. Looking forward to Surrender the Dawn. Great job as always MaryLu! Each of them learn and grow as they work together but will it be enough to cover past hurts? Will they find the strength to fight for true love?

Beyond Ever After is one of those stories that continues to linger in your mind long after you close the book. It was hard to put down and I found myself thinking about the story until I could pick it up again. We have witnessed Haven and Brody's relationship in Beyond Africa and Beyond Summer and I was very curious as to why their marriage was the way it was. Why Brody seemed so distant from her family. This story is Brody and Haven's journey. My heart hurt for our lead couple as we find out their history of mistakes and bad decisions. What a toll that takes on a relationship. One thing I really respected about Brody was that, for all the mistakes, he was man enough to take responsibility for what he'd done. You could understand why Haven was an emotional mess. Brody was hard to read sometimes. I loved watching Brody and Haven in Africa as they learned to work in together and hold their tongues. The Lord was working in each of them. I must say this author wrote such a clear description of the African orphanage that I could see the children's faces, feel the rain and heat on my skin and see the beauty as they walked the jungle paths. I enjoyed catching up with Case & Lilly, Zane and Carly and of course Preston and Grace. The McCords are such a great family. I have to say I absolutely loved the ending! BIG SIGH! If you have never read a Carie Lawson book you are missing out! I would HIGHLY recommend Beyond Ever After! But to really get the most out of this story I recommend you read this series in order. The two words that come to mind when I think of No Safe Haven is "Totally Awesome". This mother/daughter duo has delivered a heart-pounding adventure, loaded with memorable characters, edge of your seat suspense and sweet romance. It's a tale that will stay with you long after your close the book.

Jenna and her daughter Andie are trying to move on with their life. It has been a year since Marc was killed. Andie, who has always suffered from a rare nerve disorder, just got good news from the doctor. While flying back home their pilot sabotages their private plane and they crash into a high part of a remote mountain in Alaska. Cole Maddox was on the plane because of a promise he made to Marc. He needs to keep Jenna and Andie safe but they're having a hard time trusting him. To make matters worse a snow storm is brewing and headed their way.

I've got to say this story kept me flipping pages from beginning to end. I really didn't get anything done because each page held me spellbound. You become totally involved from the very first page. The characters were so well drawn and the dialog was superb. One thing that I really enjoyed was Andie's simple faith and the way that it affected everyone she was around. It was so uplifting and encouraging. I loved the tension between Cole and Jenna. It just felt tangible to me. The description of the mountain and the snow storm was so good that it made me shiver. I also like the way the story was layed out with the date/time and thoughts of each character. Reading about how the rare nerve disorder affects daily living was very thought provoking. Soon though she meets the new owner, Stover Steele. They are drawn to each other right away but Stover thinks she's a little young and he still has his three little sisters to raise and Katie believes that someone like Stover would never be interested in her. Stover finds himself, however, coming to Katie's rescue quite a few times. He sees her gentle spirit and it angers him at how harsh her father is with her. Will Stover and Katie have the chance to find true love or will fear and danger find them first?

This was a really great romantic read. Katie was such a sweet girl and you truly felt bad for her and her mother having to live with such a harsh and loveless man. One thing I thoroughly enjoyed about this story was Stover's three little sisters. They were so active and always getting into innocent trouble. It just made me smile wide! I also loved the secondary story between Stover's sister Piller and Katie's brother Jared. It's almost like having two stories in one. Hillary was a girl in the story who was trying to win the attention of Stover away from Katie by not be honest. I really appreciated that Stover saw right through her antics. Many times a 'smart' hero will fall for the lies and that makes me frustrated. There was a big gasp at the end right before a big sigh! If you're looking for a total 'get away from your troubles' type read then try The Prairie Prince. It comes complete with lots of great kissing scenes and a shirtless hero nicely tucked inside a very clean romance. Who could ask for more?

MONTANA DAWN by Caroline Fyffe

Faith is pregnant and on the run with her stepson, Colton. After her abusive husband dies she wants to get away or they will force her to marry his brother, Ward, who's even meaner. The wagon gets stuck and she goes into labor. Luke McCutcheon and his brothers are driving cattle back to their ranch. As he's scouting around he finds Faith's wagon and here's the noises she making. He enters the wagon to see what's going on and gets hit on the head. When he comes-to he tries to explain to Colton that he's one of the good-guys and wants to help his mom. He delivers Faith's baby and they tell her she can come to the ranch to gain strength. As they are heading back they run into Ward. Luke can see the fear in Faith's and Colton's eyes but she won't talk to him. Ward is mean and true to his threats. Faith and Colton have come to love being at the ranch but she knows what Ward is capable of. He has something hanging over her head and will use it if she doesn't go along with him.

Because I loved Where the Wind Blows I had to read this one too. I must confess that I didn't enjoy this tale quite as much. One reason I think was because of Faith. I really did like Faith as a person and you could certainly understand her ambivalence in trusting considering her life's situation. But her time at the ranch and with Luke and his brothers should have proved to her that she could trust him. They never gave her any reason not to. One thing I really did like was the McCutcheon family. They were such a tight-knit family and really cared for one another. There was one particular part that was so touching where Luke told his sister that we all get hankerings but she needed to wait for the right one and until they married first. I respect this author for keeping the story clean (other than a few 'words') and even giving some very good advice. I'll be watching for more by this author.

WHERE THE WIND BLOWS by Caroline Fyffe

I'm always on the hunt for good books. I ran across Where the Wind Blows and saw all the great reviews. In several of the reviews it mentioned that this was a clean and sweet read so I decided to try it. I must say it was great story! Chase Logan is heading for a new job and on his way he must deliver the news to Jessie Strong that her husband, Nathan, is dead. He sure didn't expect to find such a young wife though. She allows him to stay in the barn and explains that she is expecting a very special delivery. The morning he's to leave, the delivery shows up. Three-year-old Sarah whom they were to adopt. The one escorting Sarah assumes Chase is Nathan. Jessie knew it was only pretend and only for a little while but Sarah was already calling him da. She was fooling herself to think she could have such a life with such a good man. Besides they weren't even married. But the longer they were around each other the harder it was to think of not begin together.

This was such a great romantic western. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved the watching Chase & Jessie together. Chase was an excellent hero. I appreciated the way he respected Jessie and took great care with her. Jessie was a feisty gal but not unreasonable or selfish. The romantic tension between Chase & Jessie was tangible. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Sarah was a cute little girl. It's no wonder she melted Chase's heart. Gabe was a teen who would probably be a lot like Chase when he grew up. The characters fit so naturally into the story. There were some very tender moments that melted my heart, some moments that made me smile, and a few places where I was biting my nails. The author allows you to hear the main characters' thoughts and I think it enhances the story, at least for me, when you know why they are behaving a certain way. I must say that other than a few 'words' this could make it into the edgy Christian Fiction category.

This was a great viking era tale. Kerstin is a healer but she is known to everyone as the 'Witch of Moere' because she uses herbs. She is betrothed to one she loves but the King commands she marry Jonas, the Beast of Hawkscliffe, to ensure peace between their families so they may fight a common enemy. Though she greatly opposes the marriage she finally agrees. There is a strong attraction between Jonas and Kerstin but they don't trust each other. Kerstin believes he is cruel and wants to see her dead and Jonas believes Kerstin poisoned and killed his brother. Slowly but surely they begin to see each other in a different light. Jonas is kind when he could be cruel and Kerstin is helping his people. But there is a traitor in the group. When Kerstin finds out who it is she sets out to warn Jonas. But will she make it in time? and will they ever find peace in their marriage?

The Heart's Warrior was very engaging and kept me reading from start to finish. The characters were very well drawn and seemed natural to the story. I liked both Jonas and Kerstin. Jonas was a hulk of a man yet had a tender heart. Kerstin had fire and grit yet in her heart she really did want peace. There was a mystery concerning who killed Jonas' brother that you don't find out until the end. There is also a spot in the end that sucked the breath out of me. I loved it because it was unexpected. This would not be considered 'Christian Fiction' but it is what I would call "clean with an edge" (with the exception of a few words).

JOURNEY TO RIVERBEND by Henry McLaughlin

He can't save him from being hanged but he's agreed to grant Ben's last request, to tell his father he was sorry and return his mother's necklace to him. So Michael heads for Riverbend to accomplish the task. He's not there too long before he meets the beautiful Rachel Stone. Rachel is drawn to Michael but she doesn't trust men and frankly when he finds out about her past he will definitely not be interested. But Michael is not like any man she's ever met. He's strong, gentle and protective of her. Could she ever have a normal relationship with a good man like Michael? Word finally reaches Riverbend that Ben's father was kidnapped from the stagecoach. Michael joins the posse and danger lurks everywhere. Michael wants to return to Rachel and see what God has in store but first he will have to face his deepest fear.

I must first off say that the cover of this novel is beautiful. It's what first made me want to read the book. The story itself was very good and held my interest the whole way through. In many ways I felt like I was watching a good western movie. The cast of characters were well drawn and definitely had life in them. The theme of trusting the Lord ran through the entire story. Many of the characters had pasts they were trying reconcile while learning about God's forgiveness. One thing that was a little frustrating for me was the ending. Although I liked it I wish, as a reader, it would have been more complete in how everything turned out. Almost like there should have been an epilogue. Overall it was a good story. I think Journey to Riverbend would appeal to both men and women. I look forward to future works by this author. Mark has secretly loved Lisa from the time they met but he just doesn't feel he deserves her love. He has told her more about himself than anyone else. But her's afraid of failing her. When Lisa finds herself in trouble both Mark and Lisa need to muster all the strength they can and have trust in the One that will never leave them or forsake them.

Great Story! This author pulled you into the story right from the start. I haven't read anything by this author so didn't know what to expect. But this tale had it all, romance, mystery, suspense, intrigue. I must say that the subject matter was difficult to read about although Human Trafficking is a very real problem. This author handled it honestly without being overly descriptive. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in the story. Mark was a great hero and I really liked the interplay between him and his old team. Sometimes intense but with a lot of humor interjected. The villains were written in such a way that you felt threatened by them. Some suspense stories don't really come across that way but you certainly hated these villains. Lisa was a great character. Though she had lots of hardships in her youth she hadn't completely lost her faith. She was still bubbly and sweet. I liked watching Mark and Lisa together. I also liked the way the author always brought the reader around to the fact that God walks with us through our darkest times, that He's always there and using that circumstance to make us stronger for something that may come up in the future. To me that was uplifting. What was a little tough for me to grasp was Annie staying married to Dutch. Even if she didn't divorce him she needed to at least get to a safe place. Which Mark offered in the story. If you like Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon and Anne Patrick then you're sure to like Deadly Ties. It's Book 2 in the Crossroads Crisis Center Series but I must say I didn't feel lost in the story by not having read book one, Forget Me Not. Trader Donovan owns the land that Charles' house sits on. When Trader comes to collect the rent and Charles can't pay he threatens to evict him. When a storm arises Falon allows Trader to sleep before the fire. But when her uncle walks in and sees Falon and Trader in each others arms he demands Trader marry Falon. Trader does marry her but makes it clear that it's a marriage in name only. And though that seems to be working for Trader, Falon finds herself falling in love with this hooded tower of strength. Will Trader find the courage to unveil himself before Falon? Will Falon have the love and patiences to show Trader that she'll love him no matter what?

This was sort of a Beauty and The Beast type tale. It did keep me interested the whole way through. I like the unusual names this author always chooses for her stories and Trader and Falon was no exception. I have to admit that it isn't my favorite Marcia Lynn McClure book but I still really liked it. It had suspense, romance, bad guys and a great hero who, of course, is shirtless at some point in the story. If you like this author's work then you will want to pick this one up as well!

A Million Reasons Why was such an enchanting tale full of likable characters and zippy dialog. Katie McKenna now leads a very practical life as a teacher to Special Ed kids. Having once been burned by the love of her life, Luc DeForges, she decides she would marry a very predictable and practical man, Dexter. Everything seems great until Luc walks back into her life requesting her to sing at his brothers wedding as his date. She does return home with the idea of having closure between them but what she discovers is that her feelings for Luc have never waned. Will she marry Dexter who's predictable and safe or will she discover that truly loving someone is worth risking your heart?

Okay, the cover drew me in but the whole setting for this story totally enchanted me. The whole 40s theme which Katie loved was really fun. I am also a fan of those old Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies and the music they sang. This author just brought all those memories back in a really neat way. I liked that Katie was so feisty but yet possessed a tender heart in the way she dealt with people. Luc was an awesome hero. Even though he had money you could just tell that it didn't define who he was. I loved how tender and charming he was with Katie yet very committed to what he wanted. You just wanted to keep reading to find out what he was going to do next. Even Dexter was a likable guy but you understood why he might not be the one for her. This was a charming feel-good story where I would find myself smiling but there were also some very touching moments that just made me sigh. I felt the story imparted a good message that we need to seek what the Lord would want us to do instead of deciding what's best for us. Because what we think is best isn't always the best! She was even engaged to the love of her life, Andrew Kerrigan. But then she caught Brenda with her arms wrapped around Andrew and she broke their engagement. After Andrew's many attempts to give Jari an explanation, he finally heads for England to work on a deal he had going there. Now someone is trying to steel Jari's prize stallion. Not really knowing what to do she asks Andrew to return and help her figure it out. They suspect Brenda is behind it but they need evidence to convict her. Andrew explains that part of the plan is for them to become engaged again. The difficulty is that neither one will have to pretend because the feelings are still very strong and they really do want to work things out. When the situation becomes bigger than expected and Andrew is forced to keep secrets from Jari, will she be able to trust him and more importantly will she be able to forgive him?

I enjoyed Hopeful Chances but I must admit that I had a hard time feeling endeared to these characters. I kinda felt like the emotional attachment between out lead couple just wasn't there. Andrew was a likable guy but I really felt like he wasn't very smooth. He wasn't really one who took time with Jari. He would just swoop in for kiss and then be somewhat cold. Part of the reason for that is revealed in the story but it still seemed stilted to me. Jari was not a heroine I particularly cared for. She kinda came across as whiny at times. She's the one who called Andrew back to help but then most of the time it seemed like she was working against him. I did like the secondary characters and their personalities though, and I enjoyed how the story played out. You know who's involved but to watch everything from a birds-eye view was interesting. I might add that this wouldn't be considered 'Christian Fiction' but it was a clean story with the exception of a few 'words'.

Carrie Dickson was devastated when her long term boyfriend up and left. She decided she wouldn't find herself in that position again. Then her friend's boyfriend introduces her to his friend Andrew. She is swept off her feet by his sweet talking ways and the flashiness of his money. It isn't long before he not only proposes marriage but wants the marriage to take place within a couple of month. But there is an uneasiness in Carrie that she continues to shove aside. When she goes home to her folks house she finds that the boy she had a crush on in high school is living in her parents guest house while his parents work on their addition. As she takes up a friendship with him she begins to feel drawn to him. He seems to be everything Andrew isn't, especially a strong Christian with values. Will she go ahead with her marriage to Andrew or will she find the faith and courage to following the Lord's leading.

This was a great little tale. As a reader there were many times I wanted to shake Carrie and say "wake up" girl. But I also know that I probably wouldn't have behaved much differently than Carrie. Love is blind as they say and I think that's what happens in real life. We choose to see what we want to see and pride keeps us from admitting that we have made a mistake. Andrew was likable guy but he did things that would definitely cause you question whether he was the right guy or not. Scott Spencer was a great guy. A wonderful Christian fellow who was very family minded. He's had feelings for Carrie since high school but never found the opportunity to say anything. Now he sees she is going to marry someone who's all wrong for her but he doesn't say anything, he just prays and leaves with the Lord. You come away from the story with the understanding of how important not only a relationship with the Lord is but also our reliance upon Him and what could happen if you do have it.

For some reason 'marriage of convenience' stories always attract me. Love Arranged is such a story. Nicole's mother has been diagnosed with Leukemia right before she heads for college. She works hard to earn her Masters degree in four years so she can return home and be with her mother. Now home, her mom seems okay but the disease has taken its tole. But what she doesn't know, yet, is that her dad is only given about 6 months to live. Nicole is her parents only child and they want to make sure she's well cared for when they are gone. So, her father turns to the one man he trusts. The one who has been like a son to him and makes a rather unusual request. He wants Justin to take over his company, marry his daughter and make sure she's taken care of. After spending time in prayer Justin feels the Lord's leading in going ahead with the plan but what will happen when Nicole finds out the truth? Can a Love Arranged really survive and thrive?

This was a great tale. I liked how the author gave you both the perspectives of Justin and Nicole throughout the story. As I would read the things that Nicole was feeling I found myself asking... is that how I would react? How would I feel? What would I do? There were some places where I just felt Nicole was really way out of line. Justin was so good and kind and caring. But you realize that each was interpreting the situation incorrectly. That happens a lot in real-life and it was believable in this story as well. I liked how the author created Justin as a true man. He had a faith in God but he also experience failure but was willing to allow God to change him. He truly wanted to lead in the home but wasn't sure how to do that when he was unsure about Nicole's feelings. Despite all of that. he always seemed to seek the Lords guidance. If you enjoy a good marriage of convenience story then don't miss Love Arranged.

AN OLD FASHIONED ROMANCE by Marcia Lynn McClure

Marcia McClure once again offers up and simply delightful and delicious romantic tale in An Old Fashioned Romance. To me this had all the earmarks of a great 'Hallmark' movie. Break McCall lives in the city but has country in her blood. She is the great-granddaughter of of Jackson McCall (from Desert Fire) and the niece of Michael McCall (from To Echo the Past). She has sweet childhood memories of going to her uncle's ranch with it's wide open spaces and seeing all the fun interaction of family and hearing stories of her great grandfather. She feels such a connection with that way of life. The one perk of working in the city however, is her boss, Reece Thatcher.

Reece Thatcher is a great investigator. Working for Wilson Investigations is something to be proud of. But he was beginning to hate his job. All he sees are the ugly things in life. Especially infidelity. He's not really a city boy at heart but he can't really go home either. Well, he can, but a certain memory prevents him from even considering it. He really likes Break McCall. She's been his assistant for awhile and she's different from other women he's come across. When her friends ask him to dress up like her favorite book character and come to the restaurant where they are having dinner something happens that will change the future for them forever.

I just LOVE the way this author writes. Reese was such a great guy. He loved his family and had such a great respect for them. He really is a hero. Breck was a fun character. The inter-play with her friends is a lot of fun and laughs. I loved the way she wrote into this story that Breck's favorite book was The Highwayman of Tanglewood. What a great touch. You'll find some great romantic tension here and some wonderful kissing scenes but I appreciate how the author always brings it back to the moral decision of not going beyond that. To me that makes it so much more appealing to read. I loved meeting Reese's family. They were a hoot. Especially his two little nieces. You will find yourself laughing out loud as poor Breck blushes with embarrassment. And let me tell you, the ending is worth reading the entire book. Oh man! If you're in the mood for a great romantic tale then I would highly recommend An Old Fashioned Romance. You'll want to be sure and read the author's note at the end as she shares some interesting trivia about the story!

She has dealt with Max's addiction, the guilt of an abortion and the impending death of her mother and now this. So Jade decides to give her mother her dying wish. To take her home to her farmhouse in Iowa. Max's mother comes along and they make it a girls road trip in a pink caddy. Jade feels like some space between her and max will give her some room to breath. The problem is her first love and ex-husband, Dustin is there and is willing to supply all the comfort she needs. But as the end of her mother's days draw near, Jade questions her new found faith and tries to deal with the guilt of hating her mother for so many years. Is Jesus really who he says he is? Is He truly strong enough to help her through this mass of issues?

WOW! This was not at all what I was expecting when I picked up Softly and Tenderly. I guess I was thinking it would be a sweet southern type story but what a grand surprise I had! This is a story loaded with human emotion. Jade was a such complex character who was dealing with lots of baggage not only from her growing up years but because she was married before and had had an abortion. Max was a great guy who I think truly loves Jade but he also deals with baggage of his own. His own family's problems, his addiction to pain killers and a secret he's keeping from his wife. I reeled with emotion as these characters dealt with very difficult issues. I cringed when Jade and her mother-in-law caught her father-in-law in an 'indiscretion'. I felt my heart wrenching as Jade finds out that her husband has a son already by someone she also counted as a friend. I was afraid was I saw Jade leaning her heart toward her first love. I wept as Jade slowly said goodbye to her mother. I hoped as I saw that maybe something hopeful would come out of all this trauma. If you like an emotionally charged story where the characters are truly flawed and realistic, then this is the story for you. My only complaint was when I got to the back of the book and it said that the next installment isn't due out until winter of 2012. That's a long time to wait because the story did leave you hanging! This was a great little story. It's very short so not a whole lot of time or pages to develop characters but what was there was wonderful. I really wish this was longer because I really liked Adam Peyton. Wendy Davy never disappoints. Even with the little stories.

My sweet husband gifted me with a Kindle this year for Christmas. I am a diehard book fan but as I look around at my shelves and shelves of books (taking over the house as my family says) I starting thinking that a Kindle might be a pretty good thing. I mean you can take a library with you on vacation! I have found it very easy to use and all the books I have collected from the Kindle for PC now appear on my Kindle. But, I wanted to buy something and read it on my Kindle...so I chose New Beginnings by Wendy Davy. It was a great title because this was a new beginning for me. I must say I really like it. I'm not sure that it would ever replace holding a book in my hand and smelling the fresh ink wafting up from the crisp pages but I really like having the opportunity to choose how I want to read a story. So if you too have been gifted with a Kindle you may want to begin with New Beginnings.

Danielle and Vance share a secret. Will Vance trust Boston enough to share his secret? and how will a kiss in the dark change everything?

Another very fun read by this author. I love how she interjects humor and emotion to her stories no matter the storyline. It feels good sometimes to read a story that's not loaded with endless conflict or some major emotional mess. This story didn't have all that, but instead was just a great quick and easy read.

What a totally fun and romantic read. No major conflicts or danger but just a warm and cozy read. I fell in love with Swaggart. What a great guy. I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between him and Poppy! I also really liked how the author mentioned all the old songs throughout the story. Marcia's books are always clean but loaded with romantic tension, which I love! Kissing Cousins comes highly recommended!

Feeling an immediate attraction to one another, Brevan is not sure what to do. They do marry and though it is a marriage in name only, feelings and attractions begin to seep into their hearts. But danger lurks around the corner. There are a few things that Genieva's new husband has neglected to tell her about and she soon finds herself smack-dab in the middle of some old family trouble.

Another wonderful, very romantic story by Marcia Lynn McClure. I found it very hard to put down once I started reading it. I enjoyed all the characters in this story. Brevan was a wonderful hero and Genieva was a wonderful match for him. One thing I have really come to appreciate about Marcia books (at least the ones I've read) is her dialog. It keeps me as a reader so involved in the story and she just has a way of stirring your emotions. Once again I would say if you like a good old fashioned historical that's clean with lots of romantic tension pick up The Heavenly Surrender. I haven't been disappointed yet.

If you like a good clean pirate story with LOTS of SIZZLE then you have got to read The Pirate Ruse by Marcia Lynn McClure. This definitely made my top favorites list! Our tale begins when Cristabel Albay finds herself abducted in the night and put aboard an English ship. That ship is attacked by The Screaming Witch, the pirate ship of the famous vicious pirate, Bully Booth. While his crew plunders the English ship, Bully Booth finds a treasure of his own...Cristabel Albay. As he's carrying her off to his ship, The Screaming Witch is attacked by The Merry Wench, the ship of the famous merciful pirate, Captain Navarrone the Blue Blade. He quickly rescues Cristabel by grabbing her and jumping into the sea. He tells her if she wishes to see another day she must swim to The Merry Wench. But is it truly a rescue if your rescuer is also a pirate?

I LOVED everything about this story. The characters were very well drawn. The dialog was superb! The story was engaging from beginning to end and impossible to put down! There was such a wonderful mix of emotions. I found myself laughing, worrying, nail biting and sighing. I truly felt like I was right there in the story. Captain Navarrone is an excellent hero and a wonderful match for the stubborn Cristabel Albay. I highly recommend The Pirate Ruse. You are in for a real treat. Great job Marcia!!!

TO ECHO THE PAST by Marcia Lynn McClure

To Echo the Past returns us once again to the McCall family. This story's lead character is Michael McCall (the son of Jackson McCall whom we met in Desert Fire). Brynn Clarkston is from the city and doesn't particularly like the country life that her parents have moved their family to. She thinks the people are so unrefined. But that all changes when she meets up with Michael McCall in the general store.

I thoroughly enjoy To Echo the Past. It was fun seeing all the original characters and especially Jackson and Malaina again. Michael is a such a great character. So much like his father. There were so many parts that made me laugh out loud just like in Desert Fire but there was also some very touching moments as well. It's a short read but if you've read Desert Fire you won't want to miss it. You could read To Echo the Past as a stand alone but I would highly recommend you read Desert Fire first. Fun story.
